Hot pot night at casa lingua. Salmon belly, black tiger shrimp, har gow, shiitake, napa cabbage, bok choy. Made two dipping sauces, one ginger/sesame oil/soy sauce/rice vinegar/sesame seeds, one peanut butter/black bean garlic sauce/sambal oelek. Too much food, as usual. Delish, as usual.

Stupid noodles I got for my PIC cuz he loves them so. I usually get wantan noodles, but the last couple of times they had a serious whiff of ammonia that we found off-putting, but when they’re good, they’re better.

I think the accepted term nowadays is makrut.

Great Value, surprisingly, wins many taste tests!

I roasted a bone-in split turkey breast half (rubbed with salt, poultry seasoning and Spicewalla honey-herb mix) with honeynut squash, red onion, and honeycrisp apples. Served up with the roasted veggies, StoveTop dressing, and cranberry-orange sauce. Sauvignon Blanc to drink.

Panko-crusted halibut tacos. Slaw from garden veg. Sriracha mayo. Storebought tortillas.

I ate three.

He just wasn’t feeling it tonight (recently, he’s been devouring bacon, much to my chagrin). Oh well, that’s life at 8.75 years old.

We enjoyed steamed Dungeness crab from Costco for dinner. Mrs. P also made delicious roasted delicata squash with Andouille sausage, candied pecans, and parmigiano reggiano cheese, drizzled with hot honey. She also made guacamole. It all went great with our favorite inexpensive Zinfandel.

Reheated dinner from the other night, aka ‘leftovers’.
Grandpa’s weiner schnitzel recipe (this is a battered and sauteed veal piece) with fettucine and steamed asparagus. Lots of lemon on the 'gus; the roomate covers his with mayo. There is never enough of the lemon-parsley sauce with this dish for me.

I commend your restraint and stopping at 3. I’m not sure I’d be able to - they look delicious.

Check out the Dry Creek zin from TJ’s! Curious whether you’ll like it.

It looks good but unfortunately my TJ’s doesn’t have a liquor section.
If you have a Bottle King near you you should check out the Precision Zinfandel. It is a huge bargain at $14.99. It supposedly retails for $35.

Two nights ago:

Grilled chicken, tomato, white cheddar on rosemary ciabatta. Pressed into a panini.

Last night:

Beautiful ambiance but overall mediocre apps and drinks in a restored 1850’s church.

2001 is kinda young, don’t you think? I’d put it down for a few years. Alexander Valley puts out some nice reds, tho.

Dinner was small plates at a new wine bar in the neighborhood. Interesting marketing strategy: can’t find them unless you know they’re already there, the menus on their website are different than what they’re serving, and despite half customers, full staff, and sitting at the bar right by the register, it was incredibly hard to order, order again, and even pay at the end of the night. We figured they were preoccupied by the state of the world, and the food was good, so we’ll go back and try again.

We had cauliflower tahini, slow-roasted lamb on a flatbread with parsley salad, fresh ricotta, frena bread (like a fluffy pita), and green chilli sauce (shug / shatta).

The slow-roasted lamb was lovely, and I could have eaten another frena with the hot sauce, ricotta, and olive oil.
