I am a total sucker for any sale stickers…! I found these sweet potato “noodles” on special and figured why not. Steamed, added a little sesame oil, bell pepper, sliced almonds, seasoning salt. Had a few meatless balls a la carte. Also, meh. Not my favorite meal ever.

The sweet potato noodles just made me want real noodles! And I’m kinda not a big pasta person (potentially related to living off of pasta in college, i ate a lifetime worth in four years!)
Made almost sesame peanut noodles with sesame oil and soy, sesame seeds, scallions, bell pepper. Would have been better with some buckwheat noodles but I wasn’t motivated to go get them.

Mrs. P wanted lobster for Mother’s Day so I ordered takeout from Don Pepe ll. They were really slammed today. I had to hold 20 minutes on the phone before someone could even take my order but it was well worth it.
I ordered the usual twin stuffed lobster with scallops, shrimp, and crabmeat, as well as avocado stuffed with the same seafood combination, and excellent clams casino. We had crispy homemade potato chips on the side. We also had the excellent Cooper and Thief red blend aged in bourbon barrels to drink (not pictured).

Gorgeous, wonderful looking meals all! And the eggplant looks like pure perfection. :eggplant::wine_glass::crab:

Dover sole fillet with garlic and herb breadcrumbs, and truffled cauliflower purée. Not photogenic, but very tasty.

I’m still trying to figure out if I like these frozen DS fillets - they seem overly bland, but it may just be that i prefer more fishy fish.

Earlier, also unphotogenic chicken “frankie”/kathi roll - apparently I ran out green chutney ie zhoug and didn’t realize, so it wasn’t all it could have been. Paratha from freezer, egg coating, pickled onions, cilantro, and chicken malai kabab also from freezer.

The “crispy duck” that you’ll find in pretty much every Chinese restaurant in the UK is, apparently, different from “Peking duck”. But I’ve never been able to find exactly what the difference is and, of course, I’ve had no opportunity to eat Peking duck. Anyway, enough of linguistics if, indeed, linguistics are all there is to this.

Duck, of any sort, is not something appreciated by my companion in life so it’s something that’s often WFD for me when she’s away. The other week, I snapped up half a duck in the supermarket that was cheap as near the “sell buy” date and it’s now defrosting and will roast till the skin is nicely crispy (and, hopefully, the flesh hasnt dried out). The packet also contains 12 Chinese pancakes and a sachet of hoisin sauce. It’ll just need cucumber and spring onions finely shredding to go in the wraps. Messy eating but lovely. And, no, half a duck and pancakes is not too much for one person - when that person is a greedy fat so-and-so.

From the photo, it looks like the lobsters were lovely. But still not sure I would have waited 20 minutes.

Yes, I was ready to give up, but I didn’t really have a plan B :slightly_smiling_face:

Never been to Beijing, but ate some great ducks with fine crispy skins in Hong Kong.

Oh, I have a recipe of home recipe of braised “Peking duck”, though not crispy skin, spirit is there, every guests love it, If you want, I can try to find the recipe. Cooking is pretty straight forward, the most tedious part is a special trip to the Asian store.

At least I guess everybody was happy at meal! Why needed so much time? Bad organisation? Busy day? Not used to takeaways?

Good save

Always have a soft spots with noodles! Yours are delicious. I think sweet potato noodle exists, I don’t think I have tried it yet.

Yum! Your eggplant reminded me that I should make something similar soon, last time was a while ago.

It was Mother’s Day and they were jam packed and overwhelmed. The phone kept ringing. The bartender usually takes the order but he was busy pouring drinks at the overflowing bar. When I got there to pick up my order there were lines out the door plus a line for pickup orders. Mother’s Day is the worst day for dining out. At least everything was delicious.

Made teriyaki sauce with an 82 year old Japanese gentleman who was in internment camp as a child. Later I made teriyaki chicken over jasmine rice with fresh scallions, simple but delicious. Have a photo but have not figured out how to add images yet.

Hi Dan - and welcome.

Care to share the recipe for the sauce?

Not at all John. We did it in a outdoor turkey fryer. We did two batches roughly 48 liters total.
4 gallons of kikkoman soy sauce.
4 gallons of water.
10 teaspoons of crushed Ginger.
15 pints of sugar give or take according to taste.
10 teaspoons of crushed Ginger.
10 teaspoons of crushed garlic.
it’s very simple to do but one thing I learned was by bringing up the heat on the second batch a little more than just to dissolve the sugar it release the oils from the garlic and ginger.

Welcome, @Foodhunter! And look for this picture in the menu bar when you’re writing a new post to upload a photo:

Same for a phone as it is on a computer. On a phone, IIRC, it’s in the lower right hand corner of your post.
