Restaurant Raiz - this has been my favorite food pictorial of your trip to Portugal, @honkman! The food looks amazing!
Fat fingers: it was 65%
Mr Bean’s dream is to go halibut fishing in Alaska. The closest he’s come is flounder/fluke in NJ.
Progress!
Oh what a view!! Where exactly are you? (I don’t mean the actual coordinates, just, you know, generally… ) Hope you get lots of good seafood in you!
Wow - looks totally delicious!
Thanks! It was very nice. Today I added chopped hard boiled egg to the leftover potato salad for a rollover lunch.
The thunderous gods of rain almost ruined my grilling session today, but luckily I was almost done when the deluge began.
Spicy pork chop with grilled veg(zucchini/baby peppers/eggplant) which I smothered with some of the extra sauce.
Nice try Mother Nature

I spent a lovely afternoon at the museum yesterday afternoon to see an exhibition on the history of rock music in Canada in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Sadly I didn’t know most of the bands since we had a burgeoning rock scene then so many bands might not have had air time then. They did show a video of Celine Dion singing one of the songs from her breakout album Unison. And they also had the dress she wore for the Eurovision contest. And yes they did have Loverboy’s red leather pants and yes I was looking for them I was starving and tired and thirsty by the time I got home so I had peanut butter noodles with cucumber for dinner when I got home and I had a tiramisu for dessert.
I didn’t sleep a wink last night since I got overheated yesterday so I just stayed at home today and sat in front of the air conditioner and drank water. Tonight I made a soup with noodles with one of the gargantuan bok choys I got in my CSA last week.
Are you feeling alright? You’re not usually a typo-heavy poster.
Also, Rush.
Shrimp makhani (subbed yogurt for the cream), basmati rice, and roasted green beans. Needed some comfort food tonight!
Hot Italian sausage, ricotta, spinach, provolone (since we had a few slices left), mozzarella calzone. Forgot to sprinkle red pepper flakes on the spinach and ricotta. Still very good.
I’m just tired right now hence the typos - thanks for asking The typos should be fixed now. I’ll be signing off soon to wash dishes, watch the news (The National if you are Canadian) then off to bed.
And they were playing some of Rush’s music. I had a crush on Geddy Lee when I was younger
I have also had Jane Sibery’s song “One More Colour” ringing in my ears since yesterday…
Good to know it’s just exhaustion.
When I was 15, I briefly dated a mega-Rush fan, who used to play me their albums - in full! - over the phone. I’ll admit to a fondness for Tom Sawyer and Limelight, but good lord, Gary, have a heart.
Decided on boat dinner before we venture back to Calgary tonight just in time for the Stampede.
I have a girls’ day planned at Spruce Meadows tomorrow. It’s a gorgeous facility with Olympic level show jumping about 15 minutes from home. I showed there a lot as a Jr/Am when I was younger, and it always brings backs memories. They’ve really kept it affordable for a family day out, and let you bring in food if you want. I will opt for something delicious from the International Food Festival. Really looking forward to it.
Dinner tonight was leftover lemony barley, arugula, and cannelini bean salad with leftover Greek pulled chicken. The chicken actually tasted better after melding for a couple days.
Haha are you sure it wasn’t my sister? The limit if she’s driving with me is two Rush songs….
No! It well might have been.
Mid-coast Maine, South Thomaston. A beautiful part of the world!
With a nod to @Mr_Happy, I made my first panuozzo tonight.
I rolled my go-to pizza crust dough with a pin, to obtain a thinner crust. Unsure of the outcome (Bake once? Bake twice? Will the folded crust stick?), I didn’t get too adventurous with the fillings: homemade basil-tomato marinara, parm, red pepper flakes, fresh basil, mozz, deli-sliced pepperoni, black olives, and basil pesto - in that order. I re-inserted the folded “sandwich” back on to the baking stone in the cooling oven for a couple of minutes until the cheese melted. At this juncture, I couldn’t get the salad greens stuffed into the sandwich (too stuck) and therefore served them alongside (garden greens and carrot slaw). Extra marinara for dipping sauce on the side.
Delicious! A folded pizza with a melty interior and a crispy exterior. Better than calzone, but as of yet, I haven’t put my finger on just why As if you had one of those “failure to launch” moments with the pizza peel, or as if the delivery guy tripped on your steps and dropped the load. In any case, the overall texture was perfect. Will make again.
