Someone in Toronto described it as Augtober. :joy:

Chicken thigh braised in stock, white wine, garlic, and a Mexican adobo spice mix, mini tomatoes added toward the end. The sauce is the braising liquid, simmerred and thickened with Wondra flour. All over brown rice Turkish pilaf.

That looks and sounds so good!

It was. The uncovered braise, 325F for about an hour, crisped up the skin, and the meat came in at just about 165F, nice and tender.

We enjoyed another excellent dinner at F1rst Restaurant including paccheri bolognese with a cabernet braised meat ragout and ricotta; mussels with smoked bacon and shallots in an herb garlic broth; herb crusted cod in a chardonnay herb broth; octopus; stuffed zucchini blossoms; fried calamari and artichokes in a lime caesar aioli. It all went great with our favorite red blend and Zinfandel.

Won rather big at the game last night, which makes it two in a row! Happy with the results  :dancer:t3:, especially given that it may have been our last game for the next few months :sob:

Our gang hadn’t really been fed at their college’s beginning of semester party, and another couple had just come back from the ‘burgh, so we ordered from the reliably ok Indian place in town: good tandoori chicken, very good baingan bharta (a personal favorite), pakoras in some sort of cream sauce for our pesca buddy, vindaloo for our spice king (with no detectable heat whatsoever), and some other dish I don’t remember. I just had a tiny taste of things since we’d inhaled those cheeborgerz before everyone showed up :yum:

My band has a gig out of town tonight, at a community center that’s turned into a jazz club a few times a year. Ticket sales have been slow, likely bc nobody’s ever heard of us down there :joy:

We get free drinks & food, which happens to be catered by a Greek diner… zero complaints here. I was also rather relieved to find out that the place is only a 45 min drive away vs. the 1.5 hours I had in my head. Should be home well before midnight, i.e. when I turn into a pumpkin

Off to a pig roast at a local brewery now for their customer appreciation day.

Big boi club sangweech for dinner.
Spicy rotisserie chicken, bacon, tomato, lettuce, cheese, mayo and Dijon on toasted sesame baguette
Tomato/cucumber/red onion salad on the side.
As messy as it was delicious :yum:

No pics, but we ordered from our favorite new (to us) noodle house (House of Noodles, Newton, MA). Cumin beef hand pulled noodles, spicy wontons (very good chile oil with Sichuan peppercorns), popcorn chicken that was dusted in chile powder and sesame seeds, beef skewers, and pickled radish and carrots. Rosé for me and IPA for him.

We enjoyed another outstanding dinner at James on Main in Hackettstown, NJ, including foie gras with ember charred goldenberry mango, cabernet & white onion jam, sourdough crouton; pan roasted striped bass with sweet summer corn salad & heirloom tomato, basil pesto; duck leg confit with green papaya salad, thai red chilis, crushed peanuts, lime; beef brisket ragu with black truffle ricotta gnocchi, local hog cheek bacon, Valley Shepherd’s “Soprano” cheese; fantastic refreshing gazpacho soup with heirloom tomatoes and cotija cheese; moules frites with saffron, white wine, garlic & dijon. It all went great with a couple of excellent cabernets.

We attended our friends’ garden party and brought white wine and a key lime pie I baked in a pecan crust with vanilla whipped cream. They had lots of fun munchies – I had popcorn chicken, cucumbers, pigs in a blanket, chips and guac, Caprese bites, etc. Kiddo thought the pie was too tart (the little sugar fiend; I followed the standard recipe). I was happy with it. I try not to take baking pointers from someone who will happily eat Cool Whip straight. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Thanks for making me crave hand-pulled noodles with cumin beef! By the time I get home I might have just enough energy to steam a few har gow :face_holding_back_tears:

I found this chunk of pork in the freezer. I don’t remember when I purchased it and there was no date on the freezer bag – so it became dinner. Into the crock pot for a nice slow cooking (all day). It was served with a baked sweet potato and green beans.
