We went to the new digs, was just as good as the old space. To avoid the lines, avoid the weekends or go early.

I will at some point. I got take-out dim sum from them around 2 years ago. It was fine.

Tonight’s dinner was a pork chow mein.

Other than Trader Joe’s pre-cooked pork belly, I rarely buy anything pre-marinated or pre-cooked with a sauce, because I don’t want to be locked into a specific flavor if I want something else. (With the pork belly, I can make any glaze I want to.)

But this intrigued me because of the flavors, so I figured I’d give it a go.

TJs braised pork shoulder in a fig and apricot sauce. I augmented the sauce with some white wine and fig paste (which melted in to the sauce). It definitely needed more than the 30 minutes they call for for reheating in the oven (even after letting it sit out for 30+ minutes to come closer to room temp prior to going into the oven).

Served on egg noodles with buttered green beans alongside.

Wine.

Not bad. Would I buy it again? Probably not. But it’ll give me several meals. Super thin slices might be good in a panino.

DH made his marathon meatloaf late this afternoon watching football in the kitchen. We had mushroom gravy in the freezer, so I made mashed potatoes and we cooked asparagus to round things out. Two of the meatloaves will be vacuum sealed and squirreled away in the basement chest freezer. We have enough of everything for leftovers tomorrow night.

Those mini meatloaves are perfection. Great idea.

I did better tonight :joy:

A Matty’s Patties cheeseburger and a big slice of vegetarian pizza from Alimentari on Roncesvalles (the tomato slice to the left of the pepperoni slice)!

His recipe has 3 lbs. of meat - 1/3 each beef, pork and veal and lots of veg. There’s only 2 of us, so these are a good fit.

I’m hopeful I’ll find some the next time I’m in SEATTLE. I’ve been craving some dim sum since I had some 7 years ago.

A bowl of Asian soup and a bowl of Asian slaw. Soup was garlic and ginger sauteed, added chicken broth, dashi powder, miso, a splash of fish sauce and simmered a bit then added carrots, mushrooms, baby bok choy, shrimp, finished with green onion and hot Fresno chile. :hot_face:Cabbage, snow pea, pickled daikon slaw, green chile paste and rice vinegar dressing. Wooder.

We enjoyed another outstanding dinner at James on Main in Hackettstown, NJ, including house smoked beef brisket; rock shrimp gratinee; fresh Maine peekytoe crab with dijon fennel emulsion, persimmons juice, shaved fennel, micro chervil; duck confit crepinette with local beetroot, warm goat cheese, smoked cherry jam, grilled sourdough; duck pot stickers with orange sauce, seaweed salad, micro shiso scallion; frito misto with flash fried calamari, rock shrimp, delicata squash, meyer lemon remoulade. We also enjoyed crispy hand cut fries. It all went great with a couple of excellent cabernets.
