Cortado at Costa Coffee
I had a drip coffee with 2 milks from Tim Hortons drive thru in Thamesford, and a cortado from I Deal Coffee in Toronto today.
Tim Hortons now has Pistachio Latte offerings. I have lost interest in pistachio flavoured things over the past year, so I am not tempted!
Itâs good to see I Deal is still around. I used to get their prince of darkness roast and also one that was called the velvet hammer. I havenât been downtown in ages. It will be nice to visit again when this cold snap has broken and the blizzards have stopped. Sheesh, canât go far anywhere these days without worrying about scary driving conditions.
Some I Deal locations have closed. Sorauren currently has 2 locations.
I mostly visit the Ossington location, which also has a good patio for a coffee shop, in warmer months.
The other Toronto micro chain coffee shop that I find interesting, that has around half a dozen locations, is Rooms. I like the 915 Dupont location.
Also had very strong coffee at Belem pastry shop today. Ordered 6 pasteis (âpash-teyeshâ). Have tried many pasteis from different producers over the years but the original is still the best. The rest is nauseatingly sweet. My tongue burns straight away and the sensation lasts 24 hours or longer.
Pasteis and bacalhau every day. Living the Portugese dream in rainy Lisbon.
I am lucky to have my favourite Portuguese bakery in my neighborhood in Toronto. I had a prosciutto, arugula and olive tapenade sandwich and a Coxinha for brunch on the go today. Cafe Bélem [Toronto, Little Italy]
I have to avoid Pasteis de Nata right now, due to some health issues. I buy them for my dining companions a couple times a month.
Enjoy Lisbon. I love Lisbon.
Torontoâs CafĂ© BĂ©lem now has a Pastel de Nata latte available, which I have not tried.
They were OK when we had some last year but they didnât really stand out for us. The consistency of the custard wasnât as good as some other shops/bakeries we tried
Todayâs tea was a blend of roasted green houji & green ryoku.
The tisane PET bottle was lemongrass and rooibos.
The coffee was a triple espresso.
It wouldâve helped to not have to transfer trains so much today.
