I get a bag of 5 or 6 and stagger the ripening from the counter and eventually ending up in the fridge. Sometimes I share with the dotter. Rarely is there an avocado that doesn’t work out. We made a big 'ol batch of my ‘kinda guac’ the other day. I used five 'cados, green zebra tomatoes, green onions, cilantro and plenty of lime juice. To me, it was sooooo good. Those tomatoes really add a different zing! Besides the usual chips and guac earlier, it went well with stewed beef tacis last night.

We weren’t in the mood for the same thing so: a fried egg and sausage sandwich with pepper jack for him, tomato and egg with rice and peas (and homemade chili oil) for me.

Another day, another Strammer Max.

How could I not — with that lovely seeded sourdough, the last dregs of the capers & chive cream cheese, the porchetta fragrant with rosemary, the … OK, the Monterey Jack really ain’t worth mentioning, and naturally, I managed to break one of the two eggs, bc of course I did

Tha money shot:

What do they taste like?

Like if a pineapple and a grape had a baby.

Hmm. I get varied results on google. One is tomatillo, other one is ground cherry / cape gooseberry / golden berry (which I’m familiar with).

Did they have a papery husk and were they sticky?

Yes.

No.

Definitely not tomatillos, although that’s what they look like.

OK, so they’re ground cherries. They are delectable, but I’ve never seen them in green.

As is so often the case, breakfast today was a fridge and freezer cleanout.

Chili with meat, beans, and corn. Potato tacos with a pickled-pepper queso.

My tummy’s a bit wonky, so no Strammer Max today :slightly_frowning_face:

Whipped Fage, champagne mango, booberries, and the first poms of the season

My sister is one of those people who just sucks off the pulp & doesn’t eat the seeds :scream:… but then she also doesn’t like ‘meat with bones’ :flushed:. I honestly question sometimes whether we are related.
