Me too, and they align and are functional.
My mom scheduled mine for 2 days before Christmas my senior year. I ate a lot of mashed potatoes that year. . .
That was cruel!
She knew what she was doing. We were going to be on a bus for 12 hours (six each way), plus six hours at Disneyland, and while she knew she’d be very unpopular with her daughter if she forbade her from going - not to mention that the trip had already been paid for months earlier - I’m also dead certain she understood that being 2 days post-op, there would be no shenanigans. She was mostly right.
I understand. I just missed one day of school and a ski weekend and was okay with all of that despite the social pressure to go skiing.
Our trip to the world’s happiest place 50 years ago involved a one hour flight each way to and from Anaheim and an overnight at the park. All prepaid, it cost me $125 of well earned babysitting $. One of those darlings gave me chicken pox and I missed the whole trip. I managed to get through graduation, tho with a minimum of discomfort. It was my second round of it and a much lighter case.
Just back from my wisdom tooth extraction. It wasn’t pleasant and now I’m lying down trying not to drool blood on my shirt…
Thanks again to everyone for your tips above. I read through the posts earlier this week and went to the supermarket yesterday to stock up on relevant items to see me through the Easter weekend of recovering from the procedure. As my ‘last supper’ I had a filet o fish from McDonald’s with some french fries tucked inside.
Ouch. Hope you stay mostly pain-free
Good recovery to you!
Chiming in to wish you a speedy recovery. I wholeheartedly recommend napping until you get through this initial phase of bouncing back.
Speedy recovey wishes!
After most any dental, surgical, or other procedure of significance, I like Manhattans without cherries. Not a prescription but fine for me.
I hope your recovery is coming along.
Thanks for checking in on me! I’m back at work now. Still taking regular painkillers but over-the-counter ones. And mainly on soft foods - khichri made from boiling rice and lentils until almost porridge-like.
I found this dessert recipe which appears to be ideal to eat after a tooth extraction!
I am glad it’s coming along.
I’ve heard of Malva pudding, but I haven’t tried it yet.
We will have a soft food diet at our house over the next 48 hours, and figuring out what I’ll be making made me think of you.
So far, it looks like we’ll have chicken soup, mashed potatoes, rice, roasted peeled apples. That is as far as I’ve gotten. I’m also making some minced chicken Adana kabobs, for tonight.
Kheer or phirni are a good sweet equivalent of khichdi for dessert.
Also sheera / halva (the indian version) — I made rava / semolina sheera recently, but I usually prefer the “plain” one with whole wheat flour.
Upma is good too for the savory soft group,
Oh No ! you were actually awake for that procedure? I just shudder !
I would avoid rice after an extraction.
My mom wasn’t very accommodating after I had my wisdom teeth removed when I was 17. 2 days before Christmas.
I got rice stuck in one socket and peas in another. Not dun. Thankfully my grandma took pity on me and made me extra mashed potatoes
The rice and soft food this week is for a soft food gastro diet, not dental related.
Sorry you got food stuck in your sockets!
Yep. Local was cheaper than general, and Mom was very careful with her money.
