That’s hysterical! I don’t have a dog, but there are labs and border collies in the family. And of course the cat is perfect.

If I let the dogs out one of them is bound to figure it out.

Sharing that! I used to be an infamous pet person. I haven’t been a pet person since I even pondered having kids, and my adult children are serious pet people.

I had to switch to Skippy. :disappointed: (I taste no difference but I had a long standing relationship with Jiff.)

I wonder, is there another product that has more customer loyalty than peanut butter? Maybe ketchup and Elmer’s glue?

Seems like the worst time ever for garden irrigation problems. Glad my livelihood doesn’t depend on it, but I’ve been parenting these seedlings for six months! Gah!

Mayonnaise?

I grew up on Skippy, but when I moved to TX 40+ years ago it was not available so I had to settle for Peter Pan. Then later i switched over to Jif crunchy and now creamy. Peanut butter is GOOD. Too bad there’s 180 calories in 2 TBSP.

Does anyone else remember that peanut butter & striped grape jelly in plastic jars they came up with 50 years ago. We tried it once and never again.

ETA: I’ve been buying store brands on certain items for 30 years now. I’m not cheap, frugal or thrifty. Just practical.

Mayonnaise.

Oh, jinx!

Yes–I had to look it up to make sure we weren’t hallucinating.

I remember my sisters and I begged mom to buy this stuff. Vile.

ETA: I think I remember it so well because the other kids brought these sandwiches to lunch in elementary school. After the great fluffernutter debacle I should have known not to trust their tastes

We never bought it, but I remember when one of my best friends was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus she gave her jar to me.

I don’t normally condone food waste, but I hope you didn’t feel compelled to eat it.

It was a very long time ago, but I doubt it. I was never a fan of peanut butter or jelly as a child. I remember jelly and cream cheeses sandwiches at a local day camp I attended. Perhaps a hair better. I seem to recall eating one.

Funny I like both, bur not together.

That’s exactly how I feel.

Cdc often prefers simple sandwiches for his lunches at work. He does peanut butter and jelly but varies the jelly a lot. Once in awhile he gets almond butter or even better cashew butter. The cashew butter is where I find myself sneaking a single spoonful for an amazing energy boost. I mean it’s not honey but still. Boing!

Remind me not to eat at your house. You probably put catsup and elmer’s glue on your sandwiches. Could explain a lot.

More about the mennonite diner from yesterday, plus mennonite barbecue visit. Jesse’s.
I was surprised when cdc suggested barbecue today. Sweet dreams are made of these, who am I to disagree? Cdc chose smoked chicken salad on a bed of lettuce. Good baked beans and totally nailed it collard greens. I may have taken a small sip of the collard greens pot likker. On a complete whim I chose the hot wings.
Jesse had the best hot wings but honestly they have sucked for two miserable years. Don’t tell him I said so.
The idea is that he smokes the wings and then fries them to order but they have been very dried out for some time.
Not today Jose. Hot, juicy, traditional buffalo sauce but then after I bit into one and got that crispy slight resistance from the crispy skin. Then that hot sauce that I so enjoy. But after, oh after the smoke hits your palate and takes you away.
Straight to the moon Alice.
Even if it’s only for today Jesse took my breath away. There was corn bread and hush puppies with a sweet sauce for the dippin’.
Oh yeah and some special chicken sandwich but who cares? Wings!
We did not even buy any desserts for later and desserts are a hallmark of this joint.
Dunno if a fb pic would work but Jesse posted that his grill masters were working the barbecue smoker in 118 degree F heat.
A few intrepid diners were eating at the outdoor picnic tables. I was impressed. We were wimps and ate in the a/c indoors.
Even in the hot weather I felt oddly refreshed after eating. The freshly brewed mint tea helped.
Well about the diner. They have a lot of regulars and the cashier provided on the spot therapy to an older man whose dad had died a week ago. She was very kind when they chatted as he paid. Now that is something you don’t see that often.

Wow, I don’t ever smoke below 220-ish. 118F seems like cold smoking (but I don’t know) which I can’t be trusted to do. I only cold smoke cheese. I am not worthy.
