No reply expected but music infuses our lives with magic. I have not yet shared my song. Can you own a song? Who am I kidding? This song owns me. I was at my meditation group and the leader asked us to imagine a safe happy place where they were right now. I did so and I was on the couch seated with my minature dachsund on my lap and a book too. I was dozing and cuddling and reading with a glass of green tea in reach. In my own living room. I realized I already had it all. Another time I was doing the relaxing thing and I woke up eavesdropping on my own thoughts. The door between concious and unconcious was left open a tiny crack. Have you ever had that happen? I woke up to the sound of The Song playing loudly in my mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6AmNrk5hLc
No reply expected. I have a sweet story about Dancing Queen. It was a warm day near the beginning of the summer and cdc and I both had off that day and the day before. So we had gamed the night away. I was blissed out already but then we went to a place called Gross Gourmet so that we could have lunch at the Tileworks picnic area in Doylestown. We picked out fried chicken fresh and hot and some sides. Then the magic and music that graces so many of my days happened just like that. Dancing Queen came on the radio and we were the only customers. One lady filling up the delectable offerings cases started to dance. I started smiling warmly and began to sway. The other workers cheered her on and then we all started to dance and sing. I was filled with joy and wanted the song to never end. When we got to our usual spot I suggested we go into Mercer Woods and eat on the broken cement steps at the guest house. I did not think their offerings could taste any better but somehow they did. Above us were these words as we ate. “Who Learns Will Love and Not Destroy the Creatures Life The Flowers Joy” https://littlestonehouse.org/tag/who-learns-will-love-and-not-destroy-the-creatures-life-the-flowers-joy/
You are tuned into all night HO radio. This next selection features the Conan and Who “it’s complicated” relationship song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CppOyay3UsM
Next up is this song. I had told Conan about it and sung it to him but he had never heard it on the radio. The haunted radio. It was NYE and we had just grabbed Three bottles of wine from Wegmans. We were picking up cdc because we needed a DD. His payment was thai food byob although he would have been just as happy to not be included. As we approached the pick up point this song came on the radio and I began to softly sing along. I thought it would be a magical night. Instead we very nearly “broke up” The wine and food were tasty and then all hell broke loose. Conan is a whiney buzz killer and sometimes there just isn’t enough wine in the world : https://archive.org/details/Lesley_Gore_Its_My_Party_Video
Beautiful and peace provoking. What’s your general location?
Thank you! I’m just outside of Boston.
The comments are pretty funny.
It took me a bit to figure out what was going on (I don’t have FB acct so I had to look at the images more or less piecemeal). Looks like there are very few people entering anything in cooking, crochet, knitting etc. so this Linda Skeens and Anita Hand often got 1-2-3 places by having 3 entries with no competition.
That was hilarious! But please tell me you’ve seen the whole Marie Calendar pumpkin pie thing, too.
That had me LMAO. So many fantastic, creative memes coming from that one!
I hadn’t heard about it until just now and looked it up and found the “Pompei Pumkin Pie” memes. Thanks!
Here’s the backstory. Apparently her oven was configured to run either °F or °C and it had gotten toggled somehow to centigrade. So when she set the oven for 375° it was centigrade, actually set for 707°F.
I’m guessing that her oven has the same kind of safety settings as most and won’t really go much (with carryover) past 550°F / 290°C (and something like this notion is mentioned near the end of the article) but still that’d be enough to torch the pie.
I don’t get why trying to enter anything higher than 285 when in centigrade mode wouldn’t error immediately, though. I can set 550°F on mine but if I try anything higher it beeps and gives “Err”.
Edit - here’s a funny tidbit from the CNET story.
- And Weiss filmed a video for a [Marie Callender] company promotion for National Pie Day, displaying a giant timer and telling viewers to set their ovens for “Fahrenheit, not Sharonheit.”

Ya just had to ruin the whole thing with a boring backstory…
That’s me, Brutus Buzzkill Backstory!
In this case, the backstory is more of a heartwarmer than a buzzkiller.)

Gaming is a huge commitment. Poor Joseph Campbell to have his life’s work reduced to a sound byte “follow your bliss”. He also said that when you find your calling in life it is like finding invisible tracks. And my favorite the muses lead those who will follow. The rest of us they drag. Love it. I have met so many undesirable and despicable people this way. A waste of human flesh. My kind. This is one of Conan’s favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4cbSIN0Dok
My mother’s favorite song. My dad liked it too. https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=yfp-t-s&ei=UTF-8&p=mac+the+knife+louis+armstrong+song#id=1&vid=42559106dff4f6f2e28d89785bab94d6&action=click
