What Kind of Pepper is This

I am growing random hot peppers, including some that are from saved seeds. This type is growing. I have never grown a pepper of this shape, yet I bought no new seeds for this year. Any ideas?

I think it’s Bishops Crown.

It does look like that (I googled). But I never have had any Bishops Crown seeds or plants. I wonder how I got one.

I actually used Google Lens with your picture because I thought I recognized it. Here are some I grew in 2019. I think I got the seeds from @bogman

The green ones.

I think they are baccatum species. Some species are fond of “mingling”. There may be others it resembles, or it could have cross pollinated.

Agreed. Though, I’ve never grown Bishop’s Crown, on purpose. There are a lot of Capsicum baccatum varieties that are easier to process, wash & deseed.

Well, they are turning red. I harvested one. It has no heat at all, a nice sweetish flavor, but is not a useful size to grow in the future.

And i was trying to figure out the literary basis for that comment.

Well, he was reputed to be quite the gourmand.

I was going to write it in French, but google translate tells me that referring to a male, it’s the same word in either language.
