What is Healthy at a Costco Food Court?

Not trying to be snarky here, but what are the choices for something that’s not:
–sugared
–with flour
–ultraprocessed
–high-glycemic?

Is there anything that’s high in protein and fiber and low in calories and fat?

Nope, at least not at Canadian Costco food courts. I don’t think anything they serve has fibre.

Maybe a prepared main course salad, such as Greek salad , Caesar with chicken but there’s flour in the croutons, Cobb Salad, etc, from inside Costco, eaten at the tables near the food court.

Ours has a just a Caesar salad, I’ve never tried it, but if you remove all the un healthy stuff you are left with romaine lettuce.

These are some Canadian Costco food court menus from the past 7 months.

A more recent menu from 2 months ago, below.
Chicken strips and fries have increased to $7.99 from $6.99, and fries have increased to $3.49. Poutine now costs $6.99.

There are some people who are annoyed by the price increases who are posting on Reddit.

Rotisserie Chicken Caesar Salad (and hold the dressing)

Really really salty rotisserie chicken up here

When I was dieting I ate the chicken Caesar salad without dressing and without croutons. I did eat the Parmesan packet. It definitely filled me up and was low calorie density.

With absolutely no disrespect, the Costco food court wouldnt ever come to mind as somewhere to find healthy options.

Even though my offspring works at my local store, I never eat at thr food court. I despise hot dogs, and my dairy issues make the rest of it off-limits

Not sure why this would (or ought) to be. Costco sells a multitude of food products that are healthy choices. It’s not like the chain avoids whole foods, keto and Paleo stuff, vitamins and supplements. My local store has nearly a full aisle of protein powders and other nutritional supplements.

I’d like to see a real athletic smoothie and a chicken or tuna salad as choices. Or a hummus or smoked salmon plate with veggies.

There are many healthy foodstuffs sold at Costco. The Food Court lacks in that catagory.

Wow, fries? They must hire qualified food court staff.

Perhaps they have a suggestion box, or you could send them an email requesting healthy choices.

Because like most fastfood places they aim to sell calorie dense food which is easy to handle by hardly trained emoloyee - most healthy food doesn’t fit into that category

People have been spotted digging into food like rotisserie chickens, purchased at the grocery part of Costco, at our food courts.

The ones in Canada used to offer lobster rolls and smoked meat sandwiches 10 years ago. They have streamlined the menu and don’t have limited time features anymore.

They’re just frozen Cavendish farms fries. A lot of ppl like Costco poutine.

That might explain the ‘would’, but hardly the ‘ought’. Costco could easily offer a vegetable + protein relish tray or a healthier smoothie without changing anything.

Have you emailed customer service with your suggestions?

More likely to get something accomplished than hoping here.

Unlikely that it would be sold enough to be worth the extra training/prep required (and vegetables are also often more perishable and more “difficult” to prepare/cook). At the end Costco is a business and if enough people would request vegetables available in the food court they might consider it - they will reevaluate on a regular basis what gives them the most return and similar to any fast food shop vegetables and proteins (beside in bun form) aren’t known to be popular with customers

Nah, I think the answer lies in the head office deciding that there’s no demand for healthy at Food Court.

Still, they have experimented in the past. I’m just a little surprised they haven’t struck some sort of deal with Premier Protein or Orgain to soft-serve up a healthier option for a sundae/smoothie.

Wha? Llll-obster rolls?
