What happened to Teresa's? [NYC]

I used to eat in the former East Village location of Teresa’s 3 times a week. I work twice a week in Downtown Brooklyn (I did until 2014 and have again since last semester) and decided to walk over to Montague and Hicks and see whether I could get some tripe soup and chicken stew if they had it. I found nothing but their former location shut solid, so I did a web search and found out that location in Brooklyn Heights closed on January 5, 2020, but the Brooklyn Eagle has such an absurdly harsh paywall that I couldn’t see why. Does anyone know why it closed? I remember Teresa telling me that she owned the building. Is Teresa OK?

She retired. Had enough. She not only owns the building, but she owns the liquor/wine store next to where Teresa’s was. Had you known, you could’ve gone in there and found out whatever info. you wanted.

Yeah, I didn’t know that. I’m not shocked she retired. I remember her not being very old, but even if she’s about the same age as me (57), rather than well into her 60s or something, she was a restaurateur for a long time.

If you want to buy and run it, she may be open to it from what I heard. I miss that place. I am not normally a fan of stuffed cabbage but I adored her’s.
