What Fast Food Chain Do You Love?

No accounting for taste. As long as everybody finds something to their liking.

I eat the bounty of summer (also winter, spring and fall) at home all the time. So when I go out, I often want a big sloppy burger and fries, which I almost never make for myself. Your vegetarian friends may be like me.

The nice thing about Hungry Onion that set it apart from Chowhound was that it used to be a place for kinder discourse. I’m rather tired of these discussions getting pulled off topic constantly by ad hom attacks and pissing contests.

What both boards have in common is that you have the option to unfollow threads that aren’t to your liking (unless the specific topic is important to you - and I’d be surprised if this particular, 5 yr old one were, TBH), or mute them.

I do that, and it has worked out well for me - not just with regard to food boards.

Actually do follow this thread. And muting shouldn’t be necessary on such a regular basis in so many places.

I absolutely agree, but that hasn’t been my personal experience. Maybe I’m surfing the wrong categories? I don’t come across a lot of contentious content on a regular basis.

Anyway, off to a local brewery for a crisp, fresh Kölsch. Prost!

I agree – the mods are completely out to lunch on this site. One can’t even have a discussion in a topical thread that stays on-topic for a post or two without some nattering fool monopolizing the thread to talk at people regarding their own personal soapbox that has NOTHING to do with the thread topic.

What’s the point of threads if not for topical discussion? This goes way beyond minor “thread drift.”

What exactly was said? I just don’t notice it. Is this the whole plant-base meat is not good and plant-base meat is unnecessary? Do I buy it? Probably not, but how is this any different than people saying they want to avoid aluminum cookware or Teflon cookware for health issue or people who are for/against induction cooktop?

Gang, I am going to close this thread for now, just to let the temperature in the room cool down a bit.

We may open it back up later, but for now let’s all take a collective break.

Thank you for your understanding.

I dunno if this is a reason to love Subway – at least not for their food, per se.

But it is a reason to love Subway for their marketing efforts. And perhaps even creativity.

I think many are coming to the same conclusion with nicotine based sprays and such. Not helping the pollinators. I don’t spray anything and love veggies just as they come out the ground. I know many Amish by me, and I asked when purchasing their goods about pesticides and the like. Manure is usually their answer. Now, I could take their word, or sneak around and see what kid of tricks their pulling. With friends, I take their word. Smilin’ Daniel is my friend and I believe him. I buy whole chickens from him and produce from time to time (he has a greenhouse, so his tomatoes come up early). Satisfied customer reporting.

Bet I can write my name in the snow better n ewe!

Not a chain but I love the independent fish and chip shop in my village here in southern England. The owner often wins the best chippie award in the area, which includes the adjacent town of 100,000 residents, against numerous competing shops. Indeed he’s won that accolade for the last five or six years straight, if not longer. Excellent batter on the fish, twice fried chiops (although I wish he would thrice-fry them). Will freshly cook specific fish; he does cod as a mainstay item but I and my family prefer haddock. Plan to buy fish and ships next Friday.

If it was my assertion I found plant based meat substitutes odd or unnecessary, I apologize. I spoke only for myself. In my opinion there are so many marvelous vegetables out there to keep our tummies and taste buds satisfied. Tonight is mushrooms Bourguignon. And please understand that odd or unnecessary to me means in no way, shape, or form that plant based meat substitutes are not tasty or appreciated by others.

I must say that one of the things I both enjoy and scrutinize is that last bite of a burger. The meat or substitute are gone. There may or may not be a clinging bit of cheese. How do just the bun and toppings measure up? Would they be tasty by themselves. Usually it’s a yes.
