Yes- clay- polymer and otherwise- will figure heavily.
Folks, I don’t want to be the bearer of bad tidings, although that might seem so.
Can we get back to the original topic (so that we could again deviate from it)?
I’m quite interested in seeing what you’re all clamoring to eat NOW.
I had salmon sushi earlier, but this set would have been dy-no-mite.
I really want to eat the remaining portion of sour cherry/apricot crisp that’s in the fridge. Like REALLY want to eat it.
Seeing as I STILL haven’t eaten that Korean meat-fest, I’m sticking with it.

Korean bbq has become a huge hit throughout North America, Asia (less surprisingly), and in pockets of Australia and Europe. I reckon a large, obvious part of that is the communal and convivial atmosphere that the average Korean bbq restaurant begets.
However, as Buddhism strictly forbade meat consumption (for most people) for centuries, I’m curious to know what Kbbq was like before then. Heh, kbbq might as well be a radio station in SoCal.
O.k., new tangent created.
I’m heading for 72 hours if I don’t eat tomo until dinner (48 hrs right now).
I rented a Home Depot truck to load up my D2’s stuff from College1 to go to College2 (less what we leave at home, mainly the clothes washer and dryer - fun getting that up 3 flights of stairs a couple of years ago then back down now - this time we hired local staff for the trip down. I just had to not have it capsize getting it back into the house).
Anyway, I didn’t sleep or eat last night so I’m pushing 36 hrs without sleep. And 48 hrs without food. Oh, well.
Wanna eat RIGHT NOW:
Chinese “Hamburger”.
Strolling through a Beijing Hutong a few years ago. Spied this.
Fantastic juicy meat in fresh flat top fried Ziou Bing, finished in his oven. Couldn’t save location on Google maps (not allowed in China). No worries, these great homey joints all over.
NEED real Peking Duck. As in Beijing.
A “sesame” bun i’ve not seen outside of Beijing. Prefer the thin “mushu pancake” crepe or even the Cantonse “thousand layer buns”. All good.
The BEST redendition of bones. Deep fried. Even our Beijing host couldn’t stop crunching on these after our main meal.
(I’ll probably end up getting some beef and/or pork and making it myself before I’m at kbbq again.)
Was Buddhism the prevalent religion in Korea for an extended period? I’m in India right now, and one of our staff is Buddhist; we have been discussing how Jainism and Buddhism both evolved (from Hinduism) for similar reasons and with similar principles, but Jainism stayed local while Buddhism traveled abroad (there’s much less Buddhism practiced in India by comparison). Theory is that King Asoka / Ashok being a key patron of Buddhism was the reason for the wide spread. On my research list.
But why.
I don’t know anything about the history of Buddhism in Korea. All I know is that both of my grandmothers were Buddhist until Christian missionaries arrived in Korea. I’ll check my commentary at the door.
The fasting is intentional. The lack of sleep was not intended but situational. Had too much on my mind and couldn’t shut it down.
Slept well last night, almost 7 hours.
That’s a relief. Ya gotta chill!
Oh goodness, I remember studying that long ago. Good luck!
I’d go for a good brunch option right about now. I don’t recall the exact name of the dish but I believe it was something along the lines of “Farmer’s Flatbread” at Banc Cafe in NYC that I ordered a few years back. Why I chose baked beans as my side eludes me, but it was all very delicious lol.
Funny. My PIC and I are trying to figure out where to go / what to have for dinner, and neither of us can come up with anything
What’s going on under there (the ketchup, that is)?
That was some kind of hot sauce or Tabasco, an egg, onions, potatoes, ham, bacon and Brie on flatbread with a bit of hollandaise if memory serves me. The baked beans were nothing out of the ordinary as far as I know.
A late-night hawker centre (Singapore) pairing that I would devour right now.
Hmm, on second thought, I’d devour this every night.
Dosa, with Tschörmen (lol @linguafood) Käsekuchen for dessert. I made do with a packet of Gits chickpea masala, fried potatoes, and a flapjack (English meaning) for dessert. It wasn’t half bad.
