What Did You Drink Today (non-wine) #2?

A Vesper. 3 oz gin, 1oz vodka, 0.5oz Cocchi Americano. Shaken not stirred. Lemon twist.

This is a big drink!

4 1/2 oz. of alcohol would knock me flat on my butt.

True Citrus, raspberry flavored drink mix. Sometimes plain old water needs a little help. I have the packets in lemon, lime, peach strawberry and raspberry. I haven’t found the orange flavor yet.

Can’t hit the coffee until 12pm, so I’ve been going for hot tea in the morning instead. Today’s is Lychee black tea from Thailand. Surprisingly good! Nice lychee aroma inherent in the black tea leaves; I don’t like the mixes or ones with just pumps of flavored syrup. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys strong black tea, but wants a little fruity scent without the sugar.

Two things

Before 5 PM, tea (cool) made from black tea and lots of shiso from my deck boxes. That stuff grows like crazy so I go out each morning to harvest a big handful. After 5 PM, SodaStream soda water, ice, and a dash of this stuff that I got a few weeks ago at the Williamsport PA farmers market

More than any other spirit, I like to blend rums. For this Daiquiri, a sugarcane based column-still Haitian rum, with a pot-still-dominant Barbadian. Served on the rocks this time, since we’re tryna beat the heat! Cheers!

Jalisco Daiquiri. cane-based, pot still-based Aguardiente de Can~a gives this one an ester-y, mildly vanilla toned taste! Cheers!

Had a tasting at Spirit Works Distillery (Sebastopol, CA) today. You can either do a flight of 6 (small) straight spirit pours or 2 pours + a cocktail. I went with the latter option, with my pours being their Sloe Gin Amaro and the new Navy Gin. I can’t remember what all was in the cocktail, but it involved Rye Vodka and apple juice.

This weekend the roomate brought home a Lagunitas Tiki Fusion Zombie cocktail-inspired IPA. I can’t ingest alcoholic drinks anymore, but I tried a sip. It was a vile flavor explosion that was immediately spat out. Someone out there must be consuming it, not me. Too much going on in that can. What do others out there think?

That DIPA is one of the (much) less successful brews from Lagunitas

I’d say so!

Lillet Blanc over ice. Sometimes the simplest option is the best one.

My niece came out to LA to help pack up my mom. We were wandering around the market as one does and she spotted Deep Eddy Rubyred Grapefruit vodka on wicked sale at Vons. So cocktails were a shot of Deep Eddy, a healthy dose of Stiegl grapefruit radler, topped off with plain selzer, over ice. Very refreshing, low alcohol, delicious (if you like grapefruit). I forget what she called it.

OG-ish MaiTai, although certainly not using the old Wray & Nephew 17-year unicorn rum ;-D
Blend of molasses & cane rums, both with some age on 'em. Maison Ferrand dry Curacao.
