Cava with an angostura soaked sugar cube. This was with a lunch cocktail served with quiche and an arugula salad.

Mezcal, green chartreuse, citric acid, osmanthus

Interesting – I’m a big mezcal fan, but would’ve never thought of adding green chartreuse to it. What’s the bubbly stuff on top? Foam?

right, foam made from the osmanthus (according to the bartender, at Quince in San Francisco).

Oskar blues Death by Coconut, OMG. I’ll be driving back to Missouri to get more of that. And the Citradellic by New Belgium. Forget the Fat tire, that is so boring.

Mini barrel aged Manhattans.

Those look like they were shaken… Oh, the horror of it all.

LOL - But I assure you they were stirred with ice. DH might be a bit aggressive with the stirrer, but there are no shaken Manhattans in our house.

Must be aggressive stirring, there looked like old foam on top. Time stirred, not speed or aggressiveness is what chills… Some friends did some research 5-6 years back. 25-35 seconds of steady stirring chills the same as 25-35 seconds of aggressive stirring.

Could be barrel schmutz floating on top

Tonights pint nite feature is BridgePort Stumptown CandyPeel IPA. I hope it is as interesting as it sounds.

I was kind of dissappointed, there was no orange, just a lot of hops. In a good way of course, but where was the orange that was implied?

Happy hour.

We split this. Rich but still a decent hop note. Went well with some beef soft tacos.

our new bottle of Suze.

damn! i need one of those…

Well, it’s not what I drank, but what HE did . . .

A capuchin monkey slurped on a bottle of cachaça and stole a foot-long knife before terrorising men at a bar in Brazil, according to reports.

The bizarre incident happened at a bar in Paraiba in Brazil, with the monkey said to have become aggressive after stealing the dregs from a bottle of the spirit, chasing after men. A video of the incident, posted on You Tube, shows the monkey sitting stop the bar’s roof clutching a very large kitchen knife. (Article continues at length, accessible through above link.)

Quick trip to our favorite liquor store to restock the beer supply was a success. We shared a Pliny today. Frig for the rest.

I love Mammoth’s 395. Not sure where to find it here in the Bay Area, so I mostly just have it when I go up to the Sierra.

For a similar take on gin (evoking place by incorporating the local scents & flavors), check out St. George Terroir, with flavors of the local flora of Mt. Tamalpais (Douglas Fir prominent among them).
