What Did You Drink Today (non-wine) #1? (2015-2020)

My BIL and I had a little scotch last night. The bottle was full when we started…

Moving through several Willett single barrel selections this evening while making dinner tonight. All excellent and one just good and would not have been one of our barrel picks and in fact it wasn’t when I turned it around and saw it was a store pick from a retailer we use to get our bottles through. Overall excellent sipping tonight

A few recent drinks…
First, a growler of Figueroa Mountian red IPA.

Last night we had the first of the barrel aged Manhattans…still needs a bit more aging time.

This evening, a Last Word (gin, luxardo, chartreuse, lime juice). A nice change from a lot of brown booze.

A Manhattan at Ulele in Tampa. Very tasty

Followed it with a barrel aged one with a cigar when we got home.

This is a cocktail I reverse-engineered from one I had at Altabira City Tavern in the Hotel Eastlund in Portland. Gin, pomegranate juice, and rosemary simple syrup. V 1.0 was good but a little sweet (1.5/1/1, respectively); v 2.0 was 1.5/1/0.75, and that was a little better. I think we’ll probably wind up at 1.5/1.25/0.75 for the final.

This is going to be our first round Thursday night, before we switch to sparkling.

These just arrived and are on the docket for sipping over the next few days. 3 private picks, 2 Smooth Amblers and a John J. Bowman Bourbon, a Julio’s liquor store private Scotch pick and a Plantation Rum

No photo, as we had family for dinner – the tipple was Satyr Bock from Cigar City Brewing Company (in a growler) – 6.1% and a very nice (unexpectedly so!) complement to the New Orleans barbecue shrimp we had for the meal.

Scubadoo and I are in one of the hotter regions in the country for craft brews – I think the count is now up to nearly 40 craft brewers in a 40-mile radius – almost all of which package or sell in growlers to enjoy at home.

Fun exploring all the truly nice brews this area is turning out.

A wonderful treat to close out 2015. DH knew this VEP Chartreuse was on my wish list so for our 20th anniversary the other night he brought this home. It was fantastic (if you like deep herbal deliciousness).

Bloody Mary’s and Manhattans this weekend at the beach. Back home and sipping an off the shelf Bookers small batch 2015-03 to compliment a nice Cuban cigar

Laphroaig was my first single malt, some 30-odd years ago, and it’s still one of my favorites.

This holiday season I’ve been collecting PA beers. Today I had a Victory Hop Devil, Lancaster Hop Hog and Yard’s Spruce Ale. The Spruce Ale was “interesting,” but the Hoppy ales were tasty.

Hop Devil was the first (local-ish) beer my man introduced me to – it’s too hoppy for me now, but back then I liked it.

But then I used to loathe Yuengling… and it’s kinda grown on me

Yuengling was ok. But I prefer the hoppy ales. Hop Devils and Hop Hogs are happy hogs.
