What are you watching? (2026)

I can’t even remember RN if we ever watched the most recent/last season of Letterkenny

And we never did check out Shorsey, despite my dude being a major hockey fan.

I don’t think one has to be Canadian to find it funny, but it def helps with understanding those guys

We watched the latest episode of The Pitt, which is only getting more political with each installment. BRAVO to the writers.

We then watched the season finale of Hijack, which is good bc I was starting to get bored with it. My PIC had to remind me just now how it ended. Meh.

Lastly, the first two epis of the Scrubs reboot. Still funny. Watching it felt like slipping into a comfy sweater.

Funny piece in the NY Times about people mangling movie names when buying tickets at the box office. (Gift link)

We enjoyed German netflix spy thriller Unfamiliar:

Superb writing. First rate performances. Through the entire series.

We made the mistake of throwing $9.99 at the recent horror flick Primate. Despite our low expectations, it failed even those. A few ripped-off faces do not a horror movie make. Meh.

Positively terrible.

Our recluse friend recommended Vladimir that claims to be all about limerence — at least according to Netflix’s own summary, which is where the show is currently streaming.

No doubt most of us have experienced bad crushes in our lives, so it’s somewhat relatable — even though the object of Rachel Weisz’s desire couldn’t possibly be more unattractive. At least my PIC and I both saw a striking resemblance to South Park’s depiction of JD Vance

Set at what seems/tries to be Bard or a similar small liberal arts college in the Northeast, it still fails at trying to depict academia in any realistic way — like so many shows before, but that really isn’t the point. While Ms Weisz is losing her mind over a new faculty member, John Slattery, who plays her husband, is facing a shit storm for having had… relations with undergrads.

It’s funny enough for us to continue.

Netflix’s The Dinosaurs
It is just 4 episodes, narrated by Morgan Freeman. The dinosaurs are pretty impressive.

I’m surprised you didnt like Primate. I rather enjoyed it. I expected an ape ripping off faces. I got an ape ripping off faces. Everything packed nicely. Set up, set up, set up, payoff, payoff, payoff. It’s absolutely formula, but it is a really well done version of it.

I just watched the first episode of Bill Lawrence’s new show Rooster, starring Steve Carrel, on HBO. I really enjoyed it. It looks very promising.

Yay!

Agreed! So nostalgic and I felt like I was putting on loungewear and slipping back in time

It was more brutal than I expected. Which I guess I should have expected.

I wish the ending hadn’t been so GD predictable, but Emma Stone & Jesse Plemons made up for it.

Ahh! Missed/forgot you’d done a short writeup.

You got a little person in an ape suit ripping off faces. That thing looked so unreal it was distracting from the jaw removals. Meh.

Ok, so “funny” may not exactly be the right term for the show, now that we finished it. There are some serious issues with Rachel Weisz’ character’s behavior, which is even worse than her husband’s. Yikes.

Still, an interesting and engaging show, despite the fugly crush :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

They are indeed both great. And I spent a lot of time marveling at Stone’s perfect head.

I noticed a new season of Master Chef Professionals is there too!

I don’t think I’ve ever watched that. Will check it out. Should be some new episodes of great British menu dropping this week.

All the bad chef news (Noma guy) has made me want to read personal testimonials about all these chefs. Was really disappointed when I saw that AndI Oliver liked Redzepi’s pr written mea culpa on Instagram.

I would have to look that up. I know what Instagram is! No account though.

I really enjoy Master Chef Professional, especially the demos that start each round. . There was a recent “bad chef” story there, but it was a host. Don’t think he was a chef.

I watched this when it came out. Still relevant.
