What are you watching? (2026)

First episode of Karen Pirie on BritBox was excellent. Enjoying Drops of God and The Hardacres another BritBox British period piece that seems to be a mashup of Poldark and the Beverly Hillbillies.

There’s a good music documentary series called 1971: Th year that Music changed everything on Apple I am enjoying and another doc on Netflix called 1975 that has lots of good movie content.

Ain’t that the troof! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

We watched Bugonia last night, and I absolutely adored it — as much as Poor Things, if not more.

I found it very engaging, not the least thanks to the performances by both leads, even if the ending was kinda predictable. Still, really fun.

If we didn’t already have plans to introduce a sizable number of my amigas to When Harry Met Sally tonight, I’d watch The Favourite next.

Tomorrow, then.

So, so good.

As I’d repeatedly announced (and anticipated with excitement), I introduced several of my gal pals to When Harry Met Sally last night.

How so many of them had never seen it — not just the younger ones, but a couple of them my age — is utterly mystifying. One Star Wars fan in particular was tickled to see Carrie Fisher, who’s left to utter the same lines for the first half of the movie, poor thing (“He’s never going to leave his wife. I know, I know”)

The jokes are still funny, it’s still very well done, and I know many lines by heart. Most had only seen the brief excerpt of The Scene At Katz’s, which admittedly is much better watched in context.

The only thing that stuck out to us was just how dated the idea of marriage being the be all and end all of life seemed to us… in a movie from 1989 — not 1959!!! Yikes.

I was tickled to see most of the ladies tear up at the end, and I had a tiny lump in my throat as well. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan may not have much chemistry, but the ending is perfect.

I just finished watching the excellent 2nd season of Red Eye on Hulu. There were a few nice little twists. The acting by the main actress was a little stiff, but it was still pretty suspenseful. It’s also pretty binge worthy at only 6 episodes.

I also enjoyed the new season premiere of Will Trent.

I’m looking forward to catching up with High Potential and Doc tomorrow.

We started watching Peaky Blinders last night from the beginning. We’d watched the first season when it came out over a decade ago, but either got distracted or lost interest — who can say at this point

Engaging enough to binge all six seasons, we think

I resumed watching after enjoying the first 2 seasons, but season 3 isn’t holding my interest enough to keep watching, but we’ll see.

We “needed” a ‘new’ show to binge hahaha. Who knows how long we’ll stick to it

I’m enjoying the Fallout TV series on Prime, but I’m a huge nerd and fanboy of the video game series. They’re doing a great job in capturing the lore and atmosphere of the video games, so far, and it’s goofy and cheesy and violent enough to keep me watching. YMMV

So are we, decidedly nowhere near the video game universe. I mean… Walton Goggins. Nuff said.

Sam Neill’s character in season 1 is sooo fekkin good.

We watched the first episode of The Pitt last night (yes, very late to the game), and thus far, I don’t see why it’s so lauded. It’s a hospital show, grittier than most, but not really “better” than ER or Chicago Hope or even Gray’s Anatomy. Yeah, it does the real time thing, more or less, but so did 24. Does it get better?

There was also a pretty glaring bit of illogic in this episode: the mother faking gastric distress in order to get her possibly murderous teenage son some sort of help. From an ER. Where she had no plan to talk to any doctor or social worker alone - she just kind of lucked into that. And then when a social worker appears, she talks to the kid in a public space. I do not think any of this would happen!

I don’t generally watch hospital shows, but found this very engaging. Not as soapy as the ones you mention (from what I gather, again — never watched any of them), tense, and hella realistic.

We’ll probably watch a couple more, but hard disagree about the “not as soapy.” Ooh, what has befallen this man, that he is so troubled? Why is nickname resident such a bully? Can very young resident gain the respect of her peers - AND HER MOM?

a little less singing than Chicago Hope.
