I am still trying to come up with a way of appreciating Sinners without the gore. I’m sure I would imagine something terrible, even if I closed my eyes.![]()
Antonio, the Chef/owner of one of my favorite restaurants, Fiorentini, was on Beat Bobby Flay tonight. His wife Brenda was in the audience trash talking Bobby
It was really cool seeing the both of them on TV. We go to Fiorentini once a month, and Antonio and Brenda always treat us like family. He always takes time out of his busy day to sit and talk with us. They will bring their beautiful baby boy Leo over to say hi when he is in the restaurant. He will usually comp me a dish and I always bring him a bottle of wine and share a glass with him and his wife. While he didn’t beat Bobby, he performed very admirably, and even got one vote (losing 2 to 1). He technically made the best, and most authentic dish, but Bobby won because his dish was an umami bomb, and Antonio’s dish was more traditional.
Aaaand finished that one. Do I recall correctly that the second season wasn’t all that? Can’t remember who posted about it, and the search brought up nada.
Lincoln Lawyer - watched three episodes last night! ![]()
Finished up the second season of the Night Manager this week. I preferred the first season and the storyline for the second (not based on a LeCarre book) was a bit convoluted and lots of eyerolling escapes and battles. Two main stars are great and happy to see Olivia again but found the MI6 connection to the story also not plausible. Anyway I’ll probably watch third and final season but wasn’t my favorite drama of the last few years.
Plenty convoluted; and besides, nobody gets to shoot Queen Elizabeth !
Well, gee. Thx for the spoiler ![]()
Tom Hiddleston? I think he’s currently probably best known for playing Loki in the MCU properties (not that I partake), but that came after the first season of TNM.
I watched the one-off Muppet Show special yesterday. Pretty reflective of the original (IYKYK) but with updated music, of course, and Sabrina Carpenter acquitted herself well. No spoilers, but there’s a great gag involving Beaker and a human cameo.
I decided I needed a bit of feel-good, so I started a rewatch of Heartstopper on Netflix (which has bonus Olivia Colman), and am through the first season. There’s going to be a movie to finish out the series sometime this year. This and the Muppets are scratching that itch.
Yeah, that guy. I’m also not a comic book movie person, so I was entirely unfamiliar with him.
I really want to watch the Muppet Show. Maybe tonight after my gig, or tomorrow night.
If it’s a spoiler it’s something I have no memory of being in the series. Maybe a joke?
Who knows. Given my inability to retain almost anything related to plots these days, I will likely have forgotten about it anyway by the time we get to S2 ![]()
I think it’s a joke. The actress that was killed in The Night Manager played Queen Elizabeth on another show.
BUNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYY!
wowza
Just finished watching the halftime show. I guess I expected … more ![]()
And my PIC kept hoping for his dream girl J Lo to show up ![]()
ETA: Also, not enough words in the world to express my utter disgust at the AI-miscreant ad with the ‘young’ versions of Matt Damon, etc.
Ick. Just ick.
Curious as to what about it was so off-putting for you. I wondered how Dunkin’ could afford not only the air time but how much it cost to use those actors and what the rate is for using that material.
Ok, the missus and I have finally gotten into Schitt’s Creek, prompted by Catherine O’Hara’s unfortunate passing. It took us a good 3-4 episodes to click in to the show’s rhythms and tone (Chris Elliot is definitely an acquired taste. Remember his weird guest spots on Letterman?) but we finished the first season.
After that, we started up season 2 of Fallout (Amazon Prime). It’s based on a series of very well regarded videogames that neither of us have ever played (and likely never will play), but the show itself is quite fun. Walter Goggins is having a great time as one of the co-leads, and there are fun little cameos throughout, including Matt Berry and Macaulay Culkin. And there’s some absolutely fabulous production design creating an alternate America that never moved out of the early 60’s mid-century modern design and the cold war politics that went with it. Just great little touches like CRT displays, pixelated, 80’s green-screens, chunky buttons and dials, Googie architecture in varying states of ruin. Even if the story doesn’t grab you entirely, touring the world they’ve created for the show is fantastic.
Fallout is a fun show, I’m a huge Fallout franchise nerd and think they did a great job at capturing the vibe and mood of the games.
Ha, it took about that long for my husband and me to click into Schitt’s Creek too. Nearly bailed, though. The series grew on me so much that I was sad when it ended.
Yeah. I had tried a number of times over the years and never really got past the first episode or two.
There are a few shows like that. The Office (either UK or US) was an early example. Parks and Rec is maybe the most infamous, with the entire first season being a bit of a chore as the show itself was finding its feet. Get through that, and it turns to gold from S2 onwards. My partner never could get through S1.
Literally the faces altered to make them look younger, yet not like their actual younger selves.
But I generally have zero patience for AI nonsense, so no doubt that’s a huge part of it ![]()
