What are you watching? - 2025

Titus Welliver. What a name, btw!

He was made for that role, but I barely remember him in Deadwood.

Silas Adams, Swearengen’s right hand man. I could totally watch that show again, too, even though we rewatched it before the (disappointing) movie came out a few years ago. I would’ve far preferred another season or two :sob:

Omg that’s right!!! How could I forget :man_facepalming:. One of my favourite series of all time.

Know that David Milch (the writer for Deadwood as well as NYPD Blue and others) was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s just as he began working on the Deadwood movie. It is the last script he ever wrote. He was moved to an assisted living facility in 2019.

I know. There was a very long article about it in the NYers.

He was great on Lost.

Singular.

I upgraded to the commercial free option for Prime this month, and unsubscribed from BritBox to balance out the pocket book.

Interesting that he kept writing after he was moved into a facility.

What is the difference in or is their a difference between a scipt and a screenplay?

Not enough good shows for me to justify the upgrade(my opinion), I use Prime mainly for the free shipping, the “deals “ and next day delivery.

I just checked and it’s only $3 a month extra for commercial free viewing, way better than stupid Netflix.

Prime will still show you commercials, after literally announcing: “please enjoy your movie uninterrupted AFTER THESE MESSAGES.”

Bull. Shittt.

Oof . Thanks for the heads up :pray:t2:

We watched Riff Raff last night, with a splendid cast (Jennifer Coolidge, Bill Murray, Ed Harris). Entertaining enough.

Prime moved a number of films off of ‘Prime’ and onto ‘freevee’, which was formerly IMDBtv, yet another FAST (Free Ad-Supported Television) service.

And yes, the bait-and-switch to an plan w/ ads and the ability to ‘upgrade’, (essentially a sneaky way to hike prices) was, as you state, a rather large deposite of male bovine fecal matter.

Lol. I wasn’t going to judge you if you wanted to save that 3 bucks per month for McD’s.

I end up subscribing to other providers through Prime. Right now, in addition to Prime , I have Paramount Plus, Acorn, and Stacked right now. I’ll have Crave for 2 more weeks and won’t auto-renew.

I don’t really use Amazon Prime for anything other than tv, and for purchasing gardening stuff I can’t find in stores. I have used Amazon more for shopping since we subscribed to Prime and Paramount Plus to watch Yellowstone.

Before subscribing to Prime, I had only used Amazon 3 times for purchases.

I want to get rid of Netflix but one of my watching companions wants to keep it.

Netflix could be on the chopping block, $24 a month for add free and streaming to my TV isn’t cutting it anymore.

I use “Free” services… Pluto TV, Tubi, Filmrise, Roku Channel, Free Flix, Xumo, Plex, Fawsome & Stirr for movies and TV.

Kanopy & Hoopla are free (ad free) services you get with your library card.

For free news, Zeam, local now, Haystack News and News on. For weather, I use WeatherNation.

YouTube for everything else.

There is more than enough “free” entertainment out there. I cut the cord (for everything paid) about 9 years ago – wish I had done it sooner. I wasted so much money on cable, Netflix and Hulu.

I used to go to the movies in a theatre 5 to 6 times a month, before buying a smart TV in 2020. I didn’t have Netflix or any streaming before March 17, 2020. I had basic cable, but I haven’t really watched cable TV regularly for 15 years or so.

Whatever I’m paying for my services is cheaper than 12 movie tickets (for 2 ppl) at a cinema each month.

I can’t do movie theatres, plays, musicals or concerts anymore due to a vulnerable immune system, so I splurge on streaming.

We all find different ways to enjoy life and balance our budgets.
