What are you watching? - 2025

I watched the first two episodes of The Bear last night and am happy to report that it seems to be back to The Bear that I loved the first two seasons. Hopefully it can continue to get even better as the season progresses. I would like to wipe season three out of my memory :slightly_smiling_face:

I watched the first three episodes of Countdown on Amazon Prime and it is very entertaining. Jensen Ackles is great as usual.

Wife had bailed on Season 3. Watched Season 4 episodes 1 & 2 with me last night, but almost bailed during the f-bomb scenes between Carmy and Richard. Personally I thought episode 1 dragged way too much, but made it through and am hopeful.

I just watched episodes 3 and 4, and it was much better. Episode 3 was excellent.

Great show. Too bad it had such a short run.

I should start rewatching Blackadder, too (sans the first season, which is pretty bad).

RIP. Her sequence in Mulholland Drive is one of the great musical moments in cinema.

We watched Echo Valley, an Apple original with Julianne Moore, Fiona Shaw, and Sidney Sweeney, a very brief Kyle MacLachlan appearance, and Brendan Gleeson’s son playing a psycho. It was ok. Good acting, lame plot.

Also, I could never forgive Julianne Moore’s character for sacrificing an entire barn full of horses. That’s just bullshit. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Lots of football;

Tonight - UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship Final
Tomorrow - UEFA Under-21 Championship Final
Sunday - England v Jamaica Women’s Friendly

Thanks for your review of the latest Mission Impossible, @Lectroid. You set expectations beautifully: it’s all about the stunts performed by Mr. Cruise. We watched earlier this week in a gloriously air-conditioned movie theater when we needed relief from the heatwave that gripped the East Coast. Unfortunately we were no longer able to catch it in an IMAX theater, but as my husband pointed out, entertainment like this calls for the big screen versus viewing at home.

Summer movie experience, washed down with seriously overly salty movie theatre popcorn for the nostalgia of it all.

sad news. Mulholland Drive just popped up on the new 100 list.

I’m pretty sure Ebert predicted it would be considered one of the great films of the new century.

While it’s not my personal favorite (that’s a tossup between Eraserhead and Blue Velvet) it’s probably right after those two, and I think it was where he most fully and successfully realized his personal…. Lynch-ness.

I hated the first season when I first saw it, but I like it now.

My favourite era is the Elizabethan.

It’s been too long since I binged them all (we own the box set), but the addition of Miranda Richardson, Stephen Fry & Tim McInnerny really made S2 great.

Then again, Hugh Laurie was pretty funny in S3.

The finale of S4 is still so poignant and well-made.

Guess I’ll be rewatching, and include the first season for good measure. Perhaps I’ll like it more now, too

I was so happy to have been tipped to Blackadder during that brief period where most everything ended up easily available on YouTube. I admit I’ve never really cared for Atkinson, but mostly because I only knew him as Mr. Bean.

Blackadder is way, WAY funnier. I also loved the variations in the theme and opening and closing sequence each series.

Apples and oranges, really. His physical comedy is amazing.

I saw Blackadder long before I saw Mr. Bean.

First episode supposedly in Yorkshire:
