Oooo!! I’d forgotten that THIS is the Noah Hawley Alien project. With Timothy Olyphant, no less!!!
I hope he has a cool space cowboy hat.

Finally got around to starting The White Lotus. Three episodes in and pretty much hooked. Jennifer Coolidge is amazing! So far it’s crazy in a sort of low-key way. I hear it gets crazier.
Finished Season 1! It got lots crazier…… in a very good way.
I LOVED the first season. Murray Bartlett as the crazy hotel director & Jennifer Coolidge practically made the show. It’s gone downhill from there for me, but you might feel different.
We decided to save this one for back home, bc the cinematography and direction is truly incredible, and a laptop screen simply won’t do.
Vorfreude ist die schönste Freude
I finished watching The Stolen Girl, a 5 part series on Hulu. It was pretty good. A woman befriends a mother and her child, and ends up kidnapping the child. The series covers the mother’s frantic search for her child. During the course of the series you learn about the mother’s dubious past, and her connection to the kidnapper.
We just started it. It doesn’t live up to my gold standards of Hollywood satire (The Player, which I know it’s pretty much stolen from, and Episodes). But it’s funny. Catherine O’Hara is everywhere all of a sudden!
I have so little memory of that movie. Whereas A Mighty Wind and Best In Show are burned in my brain.
Same.
Jennifer Coolidge in Best In Show is one of the all time great comedy performances.
You have to be very VERY smart to act that dumb. I love her.
Watched the Studio last night and most of it was set in a mythical golden globes event. Really really funny and I love all the cameos that pop up. Seth Rogen obviously has stroke.
We watched this last night:
Steve Buscemi, a “retired” serial killer, approaches approaches struggling writer John Magaro with the offer of a lifetime - learn about the mind of a serial killer by being the “Sancho to his Don Quixote”. When Magaro invites Buscemi home for a night cap to discuss this further, they encounter Magaro’s wife, Britt Lower, who wants a divorce and mistakes Buscemi for a marriage counselor. Hilarity ensues.
No, seriously, it does. I intend to buy this on physical media when it’s available. We really enjoyed this!
I watched the first episode of Duster, on Max, and enjoyed it. It is a fun show, based in the 70’s, with a great soundtrack. An FBI agent recruits the getaway driver for a mob boss, as a confidential informant, to try and take the mob boss down.
Watched first two episodes of season 4 of Welcome to Wrexham. I’ve loved this show about a small welsh town and their football team and watching it become a powerhouse as Ryan Reynolds and Rob Macelhaney buy the team and revive and re invigorate the club. Love the stories about townspeople and last night they featured a family that had fled Ukraine and opened up a coffee shop and bakery downtown. Very feel good.
We watched the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest last night, which one does while in Europe when this insanity takes place (along with allegedly TWO HUNDRED MILLION viewers), and that goes on for seemingly days. Final voting was done at 1am (!).
We were great fans of Estonia’s contribution: this silly ditty, which was much more deserving of first place over what actually won , or Israel.
It was a long night
Oh that was such a delightfully silly domestic thriller.
Hands down one of the best movies I’ve seen this year… and a NYT rec at that!!!
About two highly unlikeable protagonists, and how their friendship (d)evolves over time.
Funny, unusual, different. And only 98 min long.
Currently zipping through Tournament of Champions, a cooking competition I discovered last week. First season has a pretty high caliber of chefs plus some great judges (Marcus S, Nancy Silverton). Guy Fieri is the host but pretty low key. Also watched new episode of 24 x 24 cooking show and another episode of the hilarious The Studio.
