Listening while drinking a gin martini…
No “gin” qualifier needed. A proper martini is always made with gin.
The couple sitting next to me at the bar at Tadich Grill San Francisco last week thought otherwise… Though I agree with you…
And some of the Airplane’s best stuff drew very little interest at the time. I love After Bathing at Baxter’s.
It seems for better or worse, the Grateful Dead took the mantle of Haight Ashbury into the 70s and beyond but still a lot of treasure there apart from them. And yeah the Airplane has a lot of good records by my count in my collection. I also like their Surrealistic Pillow, Volunteers and Crown of Creation.
I’m always reminding some of my friends of the cool early Steve Miller Band Stuff, pre-Steve Perry Journey (yes a Santana/Steve Miller spin off band), to say nothing of the earlier groups Quicksilver, Flamin’ Groovies, Big Brother and the Holding Co and seriously huge acts like Sly, CCR and more… rock on!
I like that it’s on Chess but sorta the song playing in the background when the hippy chick invites you back to spahn ranch to meet her groovy friend charlie.
The Children’s Corner and Suite Bergamesque by Debussy.
What’s Chess? Nice song btw.
Chicago blues record label.
A bit better than Brian Jones on harp
