sort of poor man’s version of this?
the 60s/70s can blend together! still i like it.
Ah you lived in Amsterdam around that time? How wonderful! I was studying then, 1996, in nearby Rotterdam. The Prodigy had a lot of hits, and this one came high in the charts I remember.
An unforgettable classic in the mid 90s, being played in clubs all the time, was of course this one here.
I was “studying” in Leiden then - but loads of time in amsterdam too. great trains you have there!
I still wander around drunk at night with coins in my hand looking for febo!
Lol, yeah febo is nice… That was a great time to study! Lots of free time to hang around in clubs and enjoy the golden days of good dance music (imho). This track from that period is still being sampled nowadays.
And then of course Masters at Work, from New York. I saw Lil Louis Vega in a small club in Hong Kong around a decade ago, playing a whole evening, amazing dj.
No, never heard of him. Will check him out.
I won’t bore people here with 12 inch house tracks anymore… But, true story, I had only known below song from the masters at work remix back then. I think it was probably a decade later I found the original (while still not knowing the actual original was by Neil Young!).
Still a great song!
ha very euro…yes i’m currently hoping for a tour sometime been a while…neil that is lol!
speaking of sprockets this is the sort of stuff my pals over there always play…
I’m going with Jimmy 10X outta 10!
louis and billie
This is fun - and these guys had some great songs.
I have a serious Petty addiction.
Stems from not seeing him in concert before we left for a Euro trip and hearing about his passing while catching up on news while in bed on our last night in San Sebastián. Oh and they were rioting in Barcelona and we were headed there in the morning
I feel ya. Saw his second to last show at the bowl here and I remember noticing and commenting that he seemed more wasted than expected. Sort of chalked it up to a finale in his hometown and hell he’s a rockstar too. It was shocking still what happened after that. His music means a lot to me too. Still have the cassettes. I met Mike Campbell in a local pizza parlor a few years ago that was super cool.
Lol, I saw the Elton John with miss Piggy one on youtube and was considering to post it… That Stones’ song is great indeed!
