Oldies

thatā€™s cool i was wondering about that tour and how it was, thanks. They sound great, Iā€™m listening to it now.

Say what you will about Roger Waters but his concert last week was one of the best Iā€™ve seen in a long time for a variety of reasons. And no big Pink Floyd fan here either.

I caught this set ofJerry Harrison and Adrien Belew playing the entire Talking Heads Remain in Light album, plus a couple others - Psycho Killer, Take Me to the River and a King Crimson song. Kind of weird without David Byrne but they sounded great, three horns, percussionist, if you closed your eyes it sounded like he was there.
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is the most San Francisco of all the San Francisco music festivals. Elvis Costello did 3-4 Grateful Dead covers which was pretty cool too.

Fun show and I agree. Been to a bunch. Love the atmosphere in the park there and you got some great music!

Yeah Iā€™ve been to a bunch too - the festival started out pretty manageable but the last year they had it before the pandemic the crowds were insane and I almost swore it off, but the return this year was again manageable, not crazy crowded. Such an amazing setting.

What have been your favorites over the years there?

I donā€™t get to see Steve Earle much but i find him compelling.

Willie of course has been a treat.

Well Iā€™m more of a Hardly Strictly part of the festival fan so Yo La Tengo and Cibo Matto were pretty memorable. In the Bluegrass vein John Prine, Lyle Lovett and Steve Martinā€™s banjo band were all good - John Prine especially. Robert Plant was great but that was the last one before Covid and was so nutso crowded that I almost didnā€™t return.

yes Iā€™m with you. I like the blues and i like grass but Iā€™m less into bluegrass. Steve Martin sure can play - Iā€™d still rather hear him do a comedy set! Donā€™t think he does that anymore. Saw Plant/Krauss at the Jazz and Heritage fest some years back, that was really great, i couldnā€™t make this last tour tho. I hope to make my personal triumphant return to the Fair Grounds next spring. For my money thatā€™s the best music festival going and the best food too. Nice for you to have HS in your backyard tho!
