The Smiths- These Things Take Time- Live
1974 Week on MTPR ----all week!
What were you listening to 50 years ago?
(post deleted by author)
Whatever was playing on either of the two AM radio stations in town (KJOY and KSTN). They pretty much had the same playlist. On a clear, cold night, we could pull in KFRC from SF.
I was just going to mention KFRC AM which is pretty much all we listened to in Marin County CA.
Gold 'ol KFRCâŚI gave them up (and KYA) in '72 when I discovered KOFI and KSAN. I supplemented my radio listening with attending every and any concert I could at Winterland, the Cow Palace, the Oakland Coliseum, Circle Star, the Greek, the Berkekey Commnity Theater, and all the others I could get a ride to. All financed by babysitting money. Those were the days.
This mornings âFreeformsâ on MTPR is hosted by Howard Kingston who grew up in the UK. Heâs spinjing the tunes from there in 1974.

No KYA? One of those two had the âGod Squadâ on Sunday nights and âAction Lineâ at another time.
Iâm trying to remember their radio personalities. Dr. Don Rose comes to mind as well as the endless âMathews TV & Stereoâtop of the Hill in Day Cityâ ads with Tom Campbell.
There was a small station that came out of Fairfax I think.
Donât forget âDublin Berkeley San Lorenzo Cupertino Sannazay!â
Your post (randomly) reminded me of a song my mom used to love. I guess it was YUGE in the 70s.

I bought a camera at Deneviâs at the San Lorenzo location. I got a good deal and on it and the salesperson was helpful with some repair needs I had for another camera.
How could I? The mind goes first.
Darn!
