What are you listening to? 2024

Anyone listen to (Sixto) Rodriguez back in the day? I love his lyrics. Loves the accompaniments to his songs as well.

Love DEVO. De-evolution. Happening as we speak.

I’ve been going modern Russian with Prokofiev Lt. Kije. There’s something I’ve liked about Prokofiev from first listen. I think Montagues and Capulets was the first Sergei P tune I heard.

Sid did it HIS way.

I was in love with Troy and Jackie O. Just Like You Said it Would Be. was a Sweet tune. Had a big crush on Sinead. Now, I’ve emulated her hair style.

Oooh! Blast from the past. I loved No Need To Argue and played it into the ground when it came out. What a voice, and what a loss :broken_heart:

I looked at the release date for the mystery song, and realized I was far too old to play. Now, if they had one for boomer rock, or classical music, then maybe ….

More music from my yout’

That he was. I have a lot of his stuff. One recording I don’t like, though, is his 1962 version on DG of Beethoven’s 6th Symphony; sounds like he’s in a rush to get to his next engagement. For that I go to Karl Böhm’s recording with the VPO. I really love that piece of music. It was amazing being in the house where he composed it; that was part of my Beethoven pilgrimage to Vienna. The food and cakes were a bonus!
