Miroirs by Maurice Ravel. I just snagged a boxed set of his complete solo piano works. In addition to being a good deal, I find that boxed sets (so far) have been unplayed or played very little and are in excellent condition.
Sirius? Satellite radio? Your phone with a selection of seemingly millions of podcasts to serve any niche interest, and all the music one could think of?
True, old school, low tech here. When I have had enough of the pledge drives, I do go to the CD cabinet. The other stations are so commercial and full of crap anyway. We have âradiosâ and listen to them because the speakers on our lap top speakers donât come close to the big speakers that are older than our kids. Flip phones, too. Drives the younger generations nutz.
This afternoon I had the pleasure of listening to a live airing of the âBig Sky Mudflapsâ. Sensational!
That cover always reminds me that sand and female anatomy donât go well together. Imagine Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr in 1953.
Another great score, Mozartâs last six symphonies, Krips recording, for $12.95 on eBay. I listened to the Prague first. It sounds unplayed! I am increasingly of the view that vintage boxed sets are the best deals in records. They are often mint or near mint.
Sonatine, Maurice Ravel.
Thelonius Monkâs Round Midnight with the Denver Brass.
I had to look them upâŚmust have missed them during my time.
