Chocolate snacking cake with chocolate buttercream from the book sweet tooth. This was great, but I actually feel like it could be a little more chocolatey.
Orange pound cake from KAF. First time making this. I’ll post an interior shot later; beautiful light orange crumb.
I didn’t make the glaze, rather served dusted with powdered sugar. Followed the recipe exactly, with one addition: about 1/4 tsp orange oil.
An easy and very tasty cake, although it’s a bit of an indulgence with 5 eggs in the recipe.
I definitely got a funny feeling.
Will it be part of the Mother’s Day tea lineup?
Good question . I’m not sure it’s special enough.
You have been missed @sallyt!
I agree, sallyt, it’s great to hear (and “see”) from you!
Hope to see you more! Miss your chats and your beautiful bakes both!
Lard has been procured for fastnachts. Pistachio ice cream getting made tonight.
awwww! You’re the best @Saregama . I’ve been pretty busy so baking a little less than usual - but I did just make cookies for my daughter’s friend’s bat mitzvah as part of our gift, so I’ll post those tomorrow am - they were a winner. Miss you!!!
Can’t wait to see them! That must have been an endeavour!
it wasn’t much of an endeavor! My daughter’s friend loves my baking, so I asked her to pick her favorite recipe, and she picked pretty easy salted chocolate caramel chip cookies - it wasn’t for the bat mitzvah itself - I’ve thought about doing that with each of my kids, but it would kill me to see kids not eat everything (which always happens!)
Kitchen Sink Cookies from the Sally’s baking addiction cookie cookbook Modified slightly: I used different mix ins (pretzels not nuts, and reeces pieces not butterscotch chips). They still turned out quite well.
Nice selection of dessert recipes here
Those look awesome @rstuart ! I always love seeing what you bake. Do you recommend that cookbook? I do love her website.
As promised, salted chocolate caramel chip cookies - I’ve made these several times this year, and one of my friends called them her “death row” cookie which I thought was hilarious. My friend’s daughter loves my baking and so I offered to make her anything she wanted as part of her bat mitzvah gift - she requested these! I made each ball of dough 36 g, and baked for 10 min https://thesaltedsweets.com/chocolate-chip-caramel-cookies/#recipe
KAF smash date oatmeal cookies. Tasty but too big the way written. The centers weren’t quite cooked enough and the edges were quite hard. dropped them to 35g. Mo’ better.
sourdough ciabatta, meh. Going back to yeasted.
Usual sourdough multigrain sandwich loaf, experimenting with hydration.
Was at ~57%. This one 60%. Try 63% next time.
Still a bit too dense and I think I misted one too many times. Very hard crust.
