There have been a succession of eateries since its closing from Murphy’s Law to most recently Rattlesnake Jack’s, but a sign on the building at 110 Halstead Ave. says: ‘The Original Wellington’s Grill’ will be making a reappearance in Harrison. If I remember correctly, the original was owned and operated by caterer William Powell, who owns Powell’s down the road. I also recall they used to serve good burgers, steaks and prime rib on occasion. Hard to find a good prime rib these days…
It is in the works.
Wellington’s opened about two weeks ago, I was told. They are still waiting for the sign above the entranceway. And it is the same ownership as the original, Bill Powell and his team. Perused the menu over a beer the other day. Happy to say that his Prime Rib will be available daily with a special Prime Rib Dinner Wednesday Nights for $23.95. There is a Colossal Cut of Prime for $55. The American tavern menu includes: popular appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and main courses. A blackboard outside was touting 3 pound Lobsters for $40. Looking forward to sitting down for a meal soon…
Shared a Lobster Roll and a Prime Rib Sandwich during a lunch meet up yesterday. Each was hearty and tasty, served with sides of fries. Couple of beers to wash it all down…was told the big lobsters and prime rib were flying out of this kitchen over the past few weeks.
The flowery outdoor deck looked inviting, too…
