Weekly Menu Planning - March 2026

Varied and delicious week!

I think I’ll be adding corned beef to my plan, too tempting to wait.

The Ahi aguachile tostadas also sound great.

Oh good, thanks!

Oh my gosh totally forgot the oscars are this weekend! I don’t care much myself, but my partner is a big movie buff so I always like to make some snacks to entertain me while we watch it together. Will def have to amend my plans. Thanks for the inspo!

well how bout that?! thanks for digging it up!

I’m a movie buff too and I look forward to seeing what the stars will be wearing. I wonder if Billy Porter will be there wearing a tuxedo dress… As for nibbles I look forward to buttered popcorn but snacky type foods are always popular.

Hi, all! Cooking for 2 in Chattanooga, energy levels back up and ready to cook some more challenging things, let’s see how it goes. DH suggested we have our Valentine’s dinner a month late, so it’s dinner out tonight…After that, the following plans:

Breakfast: Baked blueberry French toast
Saturday, March 14: Memphis-style ribs on the grill and in the oven, slaw, rolls
Sunday: Pad thai, asparagus, cranberry tart
Tuesday: Creamy taco mac
Thursday: Steaks, baked potatoes, and broccoli in the condo we are renting in the Smokies for a long weekend
All other days are TBD. Hope everyone has the best week possible. Happy cooking!

I usually try to catch the Red Carpet show (we tape the 8-hr awards show to ffw later), and used to post running commentary on the actors’ fashion choices on Fb.

Maybe I should pick that up again…

It had quite the following back in the day (about a decade ago). Then I blanked on it happening a couple of years in a row bc I was working, and I kinda phased it out over time.

Maybe I’ll revive it this Sunday!

Let us know if you do! Maybe even do a thread on here and we can combine it with sharing all the snacky nibbles we make? No presh though! I know that’s actually a ton of work, and we all deserve some time off to sit back and relax!

Great suggestion! Pie is such an amazing vehicle too! Like, is there anything that can’t be made into a pie? lol

I don’t think this is the best forum to do so, but happy to DM you with my Fb info

Of course that would mean that the presh is ON! :scream: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Oh gosh I try to avoid fb as much as possible, but if you decide to do it, do let me know and dm your info cuz I will def sign on to follow! Are you on the fediverse at all? Mastodon might be a good fit, or even beehaw could work. Just spit balling here lol

I’m either too old or not nearly as internet-savvy as I thought. I’ve never heard of any of these places.

I’ll be in touch

Sunday: I’m making braised beef short galbi tonight. Also, braised sweet potatoes.

Scrounge on Monday.

I’ll make this lamb stew with Guiness and curry on St Paddy’s.

Chicken thighs on Wednesday, prep to be decided.

Hi all, feeding three in the Boston burbs, where an unexpectedly warm couple of days last week have almost completely eliminated the snow piles - we can see our front walkway again! It’s chilly again, but nothing is falling from the sky.

My sprained thumb is healing, and I’ve got much more mobility in a fancy new (abbreviated) splint, which I’m allowed to take off for cooking as well as ‘hygiene’ so I’m back to cooking as per usual.

Sun: early St Paddy’s Day dinner of corned beef, carrots, and potatoes. The Irish soda bread I envisioned did not happen, due to a longer-than-expected walk with a friend + a quilt that needed to be completed.

Mon: Korean popcorn chicken (random post on Instagram that looked yummy, recipe here), rice, snow peas

Tues: Irish nachos - fries with leftover corned beef and sharp cheddar. We might need some salad along with this.

Weds: fish tacos (frozen, battered fish since we have conclusively determined that I cannot cook fish that we all want to eat), refried black beans.

Thurs: pasta, meatballs, red sauce. I might have DS cook dinner since he doesn’t have school on Friday, therefore no homework.

Hi everyone

Our weather has turned spring-crazy: it hit almost 80F for 2 days followed by rain, sleet, and snow the next day. Up & down since.

So food could be… anything? I’ve been struggling to come up with a plan for the week.

Ideas so far:
— Faroe Island salmon + spinach rice
— Corned beef and/or Pastrami (now that brined brisket is on sale) + colcannon from COTM Diana Henry
— Prawns — Spanish al ajillo or Bengali Malaikari (this or this)
— Arroz con pollo of some provenance (or maybe the Yakhni Pulao I didn’t get to last week)

Awaiting further inspiration. Maybe something Persian or Parsi in honor of Nowruz.

I do want to bake something from Suzanne Dunaway’s No Need to Knead – maybe I’ll try my hand at ciabatta or pan de mie / cream bread.

Take care and stay safe.

This reminded of Butter Chicken Mac, which was so good!
I’m curious how the yogurt will incorporate (have come across it paired with Turkish pasta, with lots of garlic, unexpectedly delicious).

We liked it! I actually used puréed cottage cheese, since I tend to have it around. If I made it again, I might swap out the canned tomatoes with something spicier like Ro-tel.
