Hello friends it is sunny and warm! Not warm enough to go out in shirtsleeves yet but warm enough for a windbreaker! This makes me happy! I’ve been going out for lunch time walks every day to take in the sunshine and warmth while it’s here since I have been waiting so long…
It’s been a quiet last few days and I have been enjoying it while it lasts since I have a busy weekend coming up. I have an afternoon lecture planned for tomorrow and a matinée movie on Sunday and I might possibly squeeze in a late afternoon string concert as well. There is so much to do in Ottawa and, of course, I want to squeeze everything in
This is what is on tap for this week:
Today: My take out lunch today is fried chicken and mac 'n cheese - my new favourite take out. I will have a salad for dinner.
Tomorrow: The Historical Society of Ottawa has lectures at the library on the last Saturday of each month so I thought I’d head over and take it in. One of the churches nearby is having a concert tomorrow afternoon and there is an hour break between the end of the lecture and the beginning of the concert. The church is a 15 minute walk from the library so I should be able to make it in time
Their choir is really good - very professional sounding considering they are all amateur musicians. The choir is accompanied by their string ensemble which can play in tune most of the time but they are all amateur musicians and the admission is affordable so I can’t complain
I will have a qeema and a tomato cucumber salad for dinner.
Sunday: Off to a matinée movie about two teenagers that are Somali Canadian. They fall in love but they are from separate tribes so the theme of class and adopted homeland is explored. I will have a shrimp salad for dinner.
Monday: Spaghettini with sesame bok choy.
Tuesday: I am planning on having the remaining farmers sausage in the freezer which has been bumped a couple of times so I am determined to finish it up once and for all. I will have one serving of the squash I have in the freezer and another veggie tbd.
Wednesday: I have one serving of leftover roast chicken in the freezer so I will probably add it to some Singapore noodles.
Thursday: The last film society screening of the year. I will tie in a dinner out with the movie.
Have a nice week everyone and I hope it’s warm and sunny where you are.
Hi, all! Cooking for 2-5 in Chattanooga, where our kids and one BF will be visiting for the week. I therefore have probably too many meal plans but want to feed them as much as possible…
Breakfast: Cherry scones
Saturday, April 25: Three-cup chicken, smacked cucumbers, rice
Sunday: Shrimp and grits, green beans, tres leches cake
Monday: Kids show up–squash curry for lunch and maybe out for dinner
Tuesday: Going camping! DD will be responsible for much of the food as she has more experience than I do. Quinoa fritters and loaded quesadillas and maybe s’mores.
Wednesday: Broccoli salad for lunch and vegetarian couscous (with grilled sausages on the side for the meat eaters) for dinner.
Thursday: Spaghetti frittata, veg TBD
Friday: Probably out
Here’s hoping everyone has the best week possible. Happy cooking!
I love a pasta frittata. It never occurred to me to add a tomato-y element. Bookmarking!
