We do eat a fair amount of beans (black, red, pinto) - he’s just not so open-minded about certain flavor profiles. I’m just going to make these for myself and force him to try a bite, but not eat a whole meal.
I’m sorry I caused the confusion!
The two older (really older) adults here are fully experienced with a healthy, highly opinionated young adult male who sometimes goes through very cranky periods. So by “recovers soon”, I meant, I hope he recovers soon from the cranky part. Crankiness in our household seems infectious sometimes.
Except that this year’s pollen load Boston area is the worst in a long time, so our young adult male is suffering really intensely and so are we…so healthy in a physical sense is definitely on hold for him, for me, and for his dad. The last week has been particularly brutal. Let’s hope the pollen dampens down soon!
lol… “cranky” works in all those contexts. He’s really delightful about 90% of the time, so I can’t complain.
And what is up with our pollen this year??
It was really extreme in NC earlier this year too!
Extreme! Climate change/variation! Starts earlier, lasts longer. I have it myself very early in the season spring first, then late summer and fall.
My son is also delightful most of the time, and there isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t feel grateful that I got be his mom… adopting him at age 7. He doesn’t have my genes; we both have strong genetic allergies.
Your son seems to have a talent for drama. Being a drama kid in high school really helped me find myself; I started out a props manager, went to stage manager, and then got cajoled into being one of the old ladies in Arsenic and Old Lace my senior year in high school. My son is writing really good fiction. I am not gifted myself but the contact with creatives gives me a very welcome respite from the “current times.”
Best wishes to your family!
Hello to everyone from the spring like Twin Cities of MN where thankfully the storms predicted for Monday missed us. The sales guy when I was on a test drive said it was because they moved their entire new car fleet to a parking structure 2 miles away. If that keeps tennis ball sized hail away I’ for it. It’s been a week- big kiddo got her upper braces monday morning and that has been rough but powering through and going through the ibuprofen stash quickly. And I have a new car! Actuals and plans with a tendency for soft foods
Thurs 24: Tried something new: sheet pan sausage and gnocchi (par boiled little potatoes) and broccoli rabb (broccolini) https://www.seriouseats.com/gnocchi-sheet-pan-dinner-recipe-11720560
Fri 25: Work beat me up. Take out Mexican
Sat 26: Grocery store korean style beef served over rice, peas. Good but Salty!
Sun 27: Grilled brats, pasta salad, green salads
Mon 28: Big kiddo got her uppers. Scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes for her. Leftover monday for the rest of us. She chose not to skate cause sore mouth (and pending thunderstorms)
Tues 29: Big kiddo had her braces wires trimmed. And then theater. The coconut lime broth meatballs (freezer) over rice. Instead of doing a grocery run I was test driving cars. Also our 15th HouseVersary.
Weds 30: Tonight! Bought a car- I didn’t feel like waiting at the DMV for new tab stickers is the joke around here. Both kiddos skated. Frozen ravioli with store bought pesto, green salads
Thurs 1: I need to get a good grocery stock up completed. We will see what I find and how big kiddo’s mouth is doing
Take Care Everyone and happy Allergy Season to those who celebrate/Suffer. . .
A new car wow. I bet both kiddos are excited!
