Headed to RI on Saturday, but first, B had to pick up his new bike in Little Compton from an awesome lil biz, Little Compton Adventures. It was getting late, our EV needed charging so we headed back to Bootleg BBQ, which has EV chargers in the parking lot and decent-enough food. Very friendly, but honestly, not worth going out of your way for. Guys had burgers, brisket. I had a mac and cheese.
We saw this fun-looking place on the way to Dan the bike guy: Beer Field. He knew all about it and hopes it does well in that sleepy hamlet of a town (technically Adamsville, RI). He was heading there with his wife and daughter later that day.
Too full to eat a proper dinner on Saturday but mom and dad came over and we fed them our leftover pizza from Friday night, good daughter that I am.
Sunday we decided to hit the driving range and mini-golf at Mulligan’s in Cranston (mom and dad were VERY avid golfers when they were more able-bodied…I’m talking golfing every day, walking the whole course, even through the cold months). But first, lunch at Apponaug Brewing Company at Pontiac Mills right next to the Warwick Mall. Mom and dad had fun reminiscing about the mall when they saw it, which was the fancy one in its day. The space is beautiful, outdoor space even better (we sat inside). We played board games, had pub grub (pretzel bites to share [but mostly eaten by Spring Onion], mom had very messy Nashville chicken sliders, dad had cheeseburger sliders, B had some nacho situation, SO had a kids pepperoni pizza, and I had tofu tacos [too much sauce]). B liked their Cybernaut IP enough to take home a couple of 4-packs.
Mulligan’s was fun. I got us a Dogfish 60 minute IPA (because golf bores the bejeezuz out of me, so I gotta do something to take my mind off of it). Funny thinking about how Dogfish beers took heat for being extreme/over-the-top years ago. But it seems so tame now.
We spent Memorial Day at Battleship Cove (SO had a lunch of chicken fingers at Morse Code Galley on the ship, which he loves), attending the ceremony that they have every year. The 21-gun salute was what SO was looking forward to, but B and I hope that hearing all the names of local Vietnam vet that didn’t come home struck a chord with him. Thank you for your service.
