Weekend eats [Riverside, Barrington RI]

Weekend jaunt down to RI to check on our house and my parents. Late (for us) Friday night guilty pleasure Chinese/sushi dinner at Dragon of Riverside. They know us and so the portions are (I think) larger than typical. Spring Onion enjoyed his salmon nigiri and salmon roll. HUGE portion of Szechuan tofu, dad got sesame beef, B got some combo radioactive-looking chicken/shrimp thing (everyone liked it), another tofu dish for mom, veggie lo mein. Lots of leftovers that we sent home with mom and dad.

On Saturday, I took mom and dad to a tax appointment (and then they had a condo meeting afterwards) and then I went home to work; B and Spring Onion were out for a fun activity. Lunch for mom and dad was Chinese restaurant leftovers after their condo meeting. B and SO came home and had a very late lunch and I started a Guinness beef stew from RecipeTinEats for everyone and followed it to a T (except wanting to minimize my time handling meat, I bought cut-up stew beef cubes and added chickpeas for fiber for mom and dad). It wasn’t gonna be ready until almost 9 pm so even though no one was hungry, we went out to Nacho Mamma’s and had a pleasant meal. Good chips and salsa + guac to start. Steak quesadillas for B and my dad. Margarita salad bowl for mom, cod tacos for me, burger for SO (the fries, which we’ve never had before, were excellent – hefty, crispy, potato-y inside). Note to selves: next time we eat in, bring our own utensils and cups. GAH disposables!

Made a mound of mashed potatoes this morning. B, mom, and dad Ate the beef stew for lunch today. I had a veggie version of the stew. SO had IKEA meatballs from the freezer cooked in the stew “gravy” alongside some blue box mac and cheese. Everyone was happy.

That pinball museum has been on my list of things to do for years - thanks for bringing it back to top of mind.

And for the Nacho Mama’s idea - it was never on my radar when I’m down that way.

Food looks good - your pics always turn out so well.
