Agree, the seasoning and how it’s put on is off putting. The powdery and hot season gets everywhere and if you’re not careful you choke on it. Didn’t know you could order without, but that doesn’t sound appealing either.
I never thought about how the seasoning was put on. I’ve had Nashville style hot chicken from a few places; Howlin’ Ray’s, World Famous Hotboys and Dave’s Hot Chicken. Never understood it and there were crazy lines for Ray’s in LA and very popular. The only thing I can figure is Nashville hot chicken is grown up chicken McNuggets, which could be good. Also never got the over powering heat or spice and I’m fine with both, if done right, but it’s masking chicken breasts or is that the point?
Depends on the branch, unfortunately. We drove out of our way once coming from PGH to find a branch near a power plant (!), and it was just ok — def not worth the detour.
