[Washington D.C. ] RAMMY’s are out

The RAMMY’s are out and I thought we could converse about the nominations. And maybe guess who will win their respective categories.

In the last category, for restauranteur of the year award… I hope "Scott Drewno, Danny Lee, The Fried Rice Collective” win. I have LOVED their food at CHiKo and Anju. I first ran into them at the Tasting Collective’s event from before Covid and lockdown and they have continued to make my mouth happy.

I’ll jump in. 2fifty Texas serves some of the best brisket in the East, along with ZZQ in Richmond and Lewis in Charleston. Fernando Gonzales would be my nominee for chef of the year.
I’m also a big fan of Ruthie’s All Day and Little Sesame.
On the other end I thought Muchas Gracias was just bad. Taqueria Xochi would have been my pick for a Mexican-oriented rising star.
Mangialardo’s continues to make the best Italian sub in the area.
Both Little Sesame and Taqueria Xochi operated as pop-ups, and both did it very well.
