Walnut Creek: Model Bakery opens sit-down cafe in Downtown WCreej

Model Bakery, whose focaccia-type English muffins became famous after Oprah Winfrey publicized them, recently opened (Nov 13, 2024) a new 5,000-square-foot space at 1315 North Main Street in downtown Walnut Creek. The larger space and convenient location will allow the bakery to grow its wholesale offerings for local grocery stores such as Berkeley Bowl.

Even better, Tim Humphrey has been named the WCreek shop’s new chef. Younger brother of chef Joseph Humphrey, he is the execchef/partner at Ofena restaurant in SF. His previous experience includes stints at Goose & Gander in St. Helena, Bodega Bay Lodge, Perry Lang’s in Yountville, Harvest/Cocina Hermanas in Danville, The Lodge at Tiburon and Meadowood Napa Valley.

The new cafe has breakfast sandwiches, eggs Benedict, and a lunch menu with salad, soup, and fried chicken sandwiches. The EBay location also has a wine and beer license and will serve house wines by Jesse Fox of Sequoia Grove Winery and mimosas, per Eater SF.

Yelp has some very good photos of the new cafe and its offerings:
