Does anyone have any suggestions for where to eat king crab in WA? I’m willing to make it a day drive or weekend trip. Just looking for fresh/good tasting crab. Maybe I could venture all the way up to Vancouver as I’m in the Seattle area.
It’s a short fishing season and the catch is delivered to packers who cook/freeze nearly all of the delivery. It’s been a long time since a live specimen was spotted at a local fishmonger, and a swimming specimen has never been spotted in a restaurant with tanks in our limited orbit.
That’s what I’d wondered. Thanks for elaborating. In NorCal I’ve always assumed it was ‘previously frozen.’
Specifics of fresh (e.g. flash frozen) aside, any recommendations on eateries? Not too successful at cooking shellfish outside of shrimp at home.
It’s always cooked before being frozen, so all you have to do is heat it up – 10 minutes over steam usually does it. Costco has these all the time – even in small portions.
