If you’ve been, what did you think? We just went to celebrate a bday after hearing glowing praise for years. We found it no better than any average Indian restaurant that we’d go to for any given meal re taste of the food. The atmosphere was very nice. We ordered 2 breads 2 apps and 3 mains so I think we got a wide enough swath to evaluate fairly. But I don’t get the accolades…
We have been about 3-4 years ago and found it significantly better than your “average” Indian restaurant. We have also lived in England and set our standards for excellent neighborhood Indian restaurants (which few restaurants in the US can compete with) and for us Vij’s was on the same level as some of those British restaurants
I’ve only been once last August, I thought it was very good. I had the ghee sautéed prawns and the lamb popsicles.
What did you order?
Three curries one with paneer one with chicken one with halibut. Mixed veggie pakoras, lamb kebab, pickled onions, chapati, potato stuffed paratha. Nothing was better than a 6-7/10… in our opinion. There was a gratis rice crackers with spiced sour cream and some type of digestive bite of sweet at the end too.
Could be we have been lucky with the other Indian restaurants we’ve eaten at over the course of our lives, living here and there. This definitely didn’t stand out and we were expecting a lot. They have a Michelin “bib” award…
