[Vicksburg, MS] Rusty's Riverfront Grill

Rusty’s website gives the impression that it’s quite a smart place. But it isn’t. It’s very casual and, in truth, feels a bit down at heel. Food is good enough though.

We just had main courses (and the freebie hush puppies). Fillet steak comes with a salad starter and a selection of one side – in this case, a baked potato. Steak was accurately cooked but had little flavour – that’ll teach me to order fillet. Across the table, a seafood combo was being dealt with. This was a broiled fillet of grouper and some fried shrimp. Came with fries and green beans – the former were good, the latter barely warm.

We went back for lunch the next day (only because we were in the immediate area). And made a better selection. One of us had crab cake salad. Two cakes packed with crab sat on a mixed salad. Balsamic vinegar dressing. The other plate was a fried grouper sandwich – bread, grouper, lettuce, tomato, tartare sauce. World class fries.
