That should be a source of culinary delights, or at least information.
Looks like Bansuri has a physical location now.
There’s a BAPS temple about 5 mins from there that has a store onsite with many delicious things (snacks, sweets, sometimes food for takeaway) and looks like a cafe as well (it wasn’t open when I last visited), which will serve a simple, homestyle, vegetarian menu that should be tasty (they have a bombay sandwich on the only pic available, but the website shows a hot food steam table and a fast food snack bar).
Thanks. I have been looking for Bansuri several times since reading about it again and have never located it. Will have to go check again. Very confusing. The one very negative review on YELP does not sound like the gentleman I met years ago.
I’m sure I have driven by that BAPS temple, maybe twice, but never realized there was a store or cafe. I may have seen it from another street a couple of blocks off as I don’t think I was ever on the street listed on the website. I was probably on Ave. E. Will look forward to checking that out - the pics on the website look very interesting.
Stafford (and Missouri City) have been where almost all the eateries offering the cuisine of Kerala have been located. Most have only been caterers/take-out operations. There have been several sit-down eateries that haven’t lasted.
Bansuri reviews on Google mention the food truck. (It’s possible he got older and crabbier, but people can also behave quite entitled and rude at place’s like this and then blame the person there for reacting to their own bad behavior - my favorite chaat place in nyc was a bare bones operation, and people who were expecting a restaurant were often quite crabby about it even though the prices reflected exactly what it was).
The BAPS temple shop / café apparently has a lunch buffet if you get there in time. I’ve picked up many delicious things from there in the past, especially close to festivals (of which there was just one).
I finally located Bansuri. The city actually put up street signs for Brighton on both sides of Murphy. I was amazed. May have seen the resto before and didn’t recognize, a darker tan color with covered patio in front so it doesn’t look much like the photos I’ve seen. Back in the corner of a lot with a locked gate at the street (when Yelp said it should have been open) so I didn’t get to go in. Will get a pic. Sits immediately behind Khalifa Cafe on Murphy which I have also never seen open.
Also located the Krave Trinbago truck on the opposite side of Murphy, which I have looked for before. Much better looking Trini food pictured on Yelp than I’ve experienced before on the far east side of the metro area. Also closed behind a locked gate.
Bombay Sandwich @ Shiv Sagar. ‘Must try’ says Jesmin N on Yelp. The one I pictured above was from a short-lived sister restaurant Sagar. Heck, I just dipped my sandwich, didn’t pour everything on top on it.

Shiv Sagar appears to just be using small hamburger buns for the pav. Not what I remember from years ago.
This thread got me thinking about sprouts and how long it had been since I had them. So I “grew” some in a mason jar and when ready, made up some flour tortillas. Very yummy!!
@Phoenikia thanks for the thread and the inspiration.
