Anyone opening a mini-bar is just asking to be ripped off.
And for those who don’t have a subscription to the LV Review-Journal:
And this is news, how?
Because outrage.
If I’m ever traveling with anyone, there is an explicit notice that even breathing on the minibar fridge is not allowed, less they think we opened it and consumed anything.
On an opposite note, on my recent trip to Portland, ME. A nice refreshing change was the hotel offering me two bottles of complimentary bottled water. Plain old water, and nothing fancy like Fiji, but it was a nice touch. I’ve also seen the free bottled water in the room. 2 bottles was relatively generous.
It’s been awhile since I have come to expect and appreciate an empty refrigerator for my convenience, but I remember those “mini bar fridges” where you were charged if the sensors read that you had lifted a bottle from it’s spot.
Not the same level of outrage but right now I’m staying at a hotel near Disneyland where the vending machine seems to be selling bottled water for about $5.00. I say seems because the bottles are not labeled, but $5.00 seems to flash across the place near where you put money in when you press a button near the bottle.
And these are the bottles in the rooms. Maybe they are meant to be refilled somewhere where it rains!
I’m pretty sure it’s just water collected from a rain barrel somewhere that they’re charging you $5 for.
