Vancouver (NOT NJ)

Yes, I know it’s in Canada. But the Canada board doesn’t have a ton of activity, so while I pulled a bit of info from there, I figured I’d ask my regular HOs if any of you have recs in Vancouver. My non-foodie friends have asked me for help and they’re esp looking for CASUAL recommendations. TIA!

I was surprised and happy to find Kingyo Japanese still open and serving. Best noodles ( udon ) in town.

I had one of the most fun dining experiences at a Dark Table restaurant – you eat in complete darkness and, at least when I visited, the waitstaff were all visually impaired. The food wasn’t anything exceptional (but not bad), but if they are looking to do something different, I recommend.

I wonder how you pay? can anyone actually see the money or credit card?Curious?

Definitely recommend Vij’s as outstanding Indian (and definitely not stuffy but quite casual). Autostrada (three locations) is also very nice.
There obviously a lot of great Chinese (many regional variations) restaurants in Richmond

As I recall it, at the end of the meal we paid a cashier outside the dark area.

I second Chinese food in Richmond. I haven’t been there for twenty years so I can’t recommend any specific place but definitely try at least get Dim Sum once there (but then you might never get Dim Sum ever again in NJ :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:)

Thanks…of course I did some research for them and see that Vancouver/Richmond are an Asian food MECCA! Killing me reading about where the best banh mi and ramen are while I’m in the Asian food wasteland that is the Jersey shore. But I digress…

Asian suburbs outside of Toronto (Scarborough, Markham) have similar offerings and it is only a 9 hour drive from our neck of the woods
