V Bistro and Bar - Murphys, CA

Went to see local favorite Cake (the band) out at a winery in Amador County. We hit V before the show. While it WAS 90-something, we lucked out that the weekends was overcast most of the time, which meant outside was warm but not unbearable.

To start, my partner ordered a blueberry lemon drop

She pronounced it “delightful” and “very refreshing”, and liked it so much she got a second. That’s a rare endorsement.

I got the steak frittes, a perfectly done 8 oz NY strip with crispy fries and a pool of bearnaise, where butter goes if it’s been good.

The partner got salmon bearnaisse (I sense a theme) served over polenta cakes with a nice bright dandelion green salad. Perfectly cooked fish. Herb-y crispy polenta.

Thumbs up. If you’re in town checking out the wineries, this is a lovely choice for a meal.

Sounds like a winner! Unfortunately, most of the time we’re passing through Murphy’s, we’re hot, tired, sweaty, and stinky from spending the day up-country, either fishing, hiking or camping. Not presentable enough for indoor dining! It’s close enough, though, to jump into the fun car and make it a day trip.
