Now I have a song stuck in my head.
My first thought was a blend of the cranberries, the seeds, nuts, and coconut flakes mixed with M&Ms for a GORP trail mix.
Or toss the seeds and nuts out for birds and any animals that might like them.

Kinda like this one from New York Times for Brandied Dried Fruit (link should be a gift link). I’ve made it both with the spices and without, and prefer the latter - less complex, but also less gritty. I also find dried pears too soft to hold up well, and have settled on a blend (like your Dad) of cranberries, cherries and various raisins. I use Calvados.
So good! Especially along-side a piece of dark chocolate.
Might want to recheck the “no sugar.” Usually “craisins” are loaded with sugar. Scone time!
This recipe, from a famous Paris shop, for rye, cranberry, chocolate chunk cookies are extraordinary, not just winners, but champions.
This would be good to add to Apple/nut Charoset for Passover
