I’m asking this out of my own shear ignorance. In Canada polls close at 9:00 pm local. In the US what time do the polls close?

Different times in different states. Sometimes, in some places, the lines are so long that they stay open until everyone has voted.

In Massachusetts, if you are IN LINE before 8 p.m., you can vote, no matter how long it takes.
Here’s a list. All time are in EST. So Alaska, which shows as 1:00 a.m. in Boston, it’s 9 p.m. in Juneau.

In parts of Alameda County, the Registrar of Voters set up drive thru drop off lines, manned by poll worriers, because fake drop off boxes were spotted in 2020.
In any case, going to make a Loco Moco tonight. Have all the stuff and it should put me to sleep fast. Only one scope of rice, one egg and roux gravy instead of corn starch.

I was doing fine till I went out for a walk before the time change flipped us to pitch dark.
Came home with beef for pot roast, chicken for roast chicken (thighs), potatoes for mashed potatoes and to add to the pot roast, double dark chocolate gelato, pimento cheese, chicken bacon ranch dip, ginger beer for a dark & stormy, and a bottle of riesling. So that’s where we are right now. It may still end with Chinese takeout.

That egg looks perfect.
I was even too stressed to bake today. Given this, the cucumber salad turned into cucumber spears. But the shrimp rolls were great, and I was able to eat. And I’ve just opened a bottle of rose.

Back from my 8:30 pm run for ice cream. Mom made me pick the flavor. I picked one we would both eat so I would be logistically unable to eat the entire pint myself.
