I have the book in my Kindle library. Haven’t tried anything, though.

I got the book because I remembered seeing something a long time ago about poaching fish in the top rack of the dishwasher (tightly foil wrapped, and no detergent … or dishes)

I haven’t used my dishwasher in a long time. Got that valuable patina dishwasher chefs are always raving about. Maybe my time is NOW.

I haven’t used mine in 5 years. I’m afraid to turn it on. Prob has a different sort of patina.

Oh, I bet our patinae are close!

I’ve found the microwave does great at melting chocolate. Start in small bursts and stir, repeat in another small burst. It’s fast and easy.

Dishwashers like washing machines have all kinds of detergent, rinse aid, and other residues. I use the prompt on my front load washing machine to sanitize it every time the prompt shows up, and I run the sanitize cycle on the dishwasher on the 1st of every month.

Putting food in either machine would be a bad idea, in my experience. I remember reading (maybe on Chowhound) that some people use the washing machine to rinse a huge amount of leafy greens, like collards. I would not.

I do microwave chocolate a lot too, usually on 60% power for gentler heating.

I definitely would not. The spin cycle would purée them. :joy:

The prob with my dishwasher isn’t soap. It’s that it hasn’t been turned on in 5 years. I’m afraid it will leak.
